1. Many people think that regions affect successful person.

What is your opinion about accomplished person’s influence on the native region
he belongs to?

Undeniably person's vicinity plays a vital role in moldings him into his success.
Accomplished person have great influence on their native region, as many youngsters
can relate to him and want to imitate his blueprint of success. This essay will discuss
successful person’s influence on his native people.

To start with, there are multiple external factors that contribute to person’s
accomplishments such as his way of living, culture, society, neighborhood etc. When a
person from one’s neighborhood does something extraordinary, it sets a watermark for
those living in same region. It is a human nature to copy success. People can relate to
him and they expect same level of success for themselves. For instance, a friend of
mine went to London to pursue his masters. He studied for a year and got a job in one
of the reputed MNC. That sparked a keen desire in me to move to move overseas for
careers development. I decided to pursue Master’s degree and couple of years later I
was doing my dream Job. Later on there were several youngsters who followed suit.

has a potency to transform the whole town into a success for generations to follow.

Without a doubt, television has played an important role in regard to the information and
entertainment in our daily life. I advocate that information gathered through television is
significant. This essay will compile the reasons how effectively television performs the
role of an information and entertainment.

To begin with, television is a great source of providing information and helpful tool for
education. Television shows people to see what is going around them by giving current
news, weather updates, sporting events and regarding the criminal acts happening
around them. For example, the Newshour Show by “Arnab Goswami” gives the
significant information relating to current affairs. Moreover, TV feeds the information
from around the world without going at different places. For instance, discovery channel
shows the different countries cultures and lifestyle of the people.

Nevertheless, television is a mode of entertainment amongst different age-groups. For

instances, there are programs on television ranging from cartoon, politics, sports,
movies, comedy etc. which cater to the needs of various age-groups. Furthermore, the
choices of recording the favorite shows are also available in some parts of the world
which may be later watched as per the convenient timings.

To conclude, the television is the mode of both entertainment and information.

Television plays a pivotal role by entertaining and keeping people informed at the same
time. It depends on individual’s choice what they would like to watch.

3. Company’s top level authorities should get their employees in decision making
process. Discuss

Decision making is a crucial step in a success of a company. Whether to involve

employees in this process is a moot point. I advocate that top management should
deploy their juniors to make decisions although some may object that it is risky.

Feedback: Second sentence can be written as: The moot question is that whether
involvement of employees is required for the decision making process. Third sentence:
If u advocate, then don't write what other side thinks... Just build up the essay on what u
think.

Hint: (Based on I agree) Opportunity for appraisal – Inside talent – Internal growth – Out
of box thinking – Brainstorming – Real and practical feedback as employees are face of
the company and interact with customers directly.

FULL SAMPLE ESSAY

No one can overlay the fact that the planet we live in is at serious threat. Increasing
number of natural calamities like Tsunami, earthquakes, floods and hurricanes have
given us repeated warning signals. Government, corporates and individuals must work
together to fight this by fostering organic lifestyle.

To begin with, Urbanization and industrial revolution are the major factors that severely
damage our environment. Vast deforestation to accommodate people moving in cities
has fueled global warming. Moreover, enormous carbon emission by factories and
automobiles has polluted the atmosphere.

In order to bring positive change; companies, government authorities and individuals

must work in harmony with nature. Government has power and influence to enforce
stringent laws to minimize the extent of CO2 emission. Companies must act in a
responsible manner.

To overcome the problem, first step is to create awareness among people about the risk
we are facing. Secondly, there must be heavy penalties to offenders polluting the
environment. Furthermore, government must promote use of alternate or renewable
sources of energy and provide subsidies on it. Individuals can use recyclable products
and reuse them. Until these measures don’t hurt companies and individuals pockets
they will keep doing things to increase their profits.
5

All in all, it’s a team work as we are all in the mess together. We simply cannot afford to
damage the future of our next generations. We must put collective efforts to in order to
save the planet.

7. Some people think law changes our behavior. Discuss.

1. Law is the only way to have control over the public. People usefully behave in a way
that is in accordance with the law so it is true that law changes our behavior. This is
essay will discuss few reasons with examples to prove the validity of this statement.

2. Laws are inevitable part of a society, they are required to keep the society and
country in order, harmony rather than vandalize everything in chaos. However,
nowadays humanitarian groups argue on the point that although enforcing laws can
place limits on the behavior of people, it really never can change the nature as the core
nature of human can never be changed. This seems to be a very plausible point if is
thought superficially but peruse study of human nature and history might prove things
otherwise.

Law is the only way to exercise control over the public to maintain peace. People
usefully behave in a way that is in accordance with the law so it is true that law changes
our behavior. This is essay will discuss few reasons with examples to prove the
validity of this statement.

Law plays a vital role in shaping the behavior of the people. Since the time of our birth,
we are bound by the laws of the country where we are born. Moreover, our way of
living, our education system, our thinking has severe influence of the legislations of the
country.
7

For example, in many western countries, kissing in public is considered perfectly

normal; however it is banned in The UAE. Few years ago there was an incident related
to decorum code imposed by government. A couple from the US traveling in UAE
kissed each other and had to face imprisonment. Since, the locals are aware of the
laws, they behave accordingly. Another example is Netherland; In Amsterdam one can
buy and smoke marijuana legally, however it’s banned in most of the countries.

Although Laws and legislation can place limits on people’s behavior, but they cannot
change what is inept, what is in their heart and mind. There are always some people
who choose to cross the line, but it’s their personal choice.

8. In education system, assessment through formal written examination still valid.

Discuss

Without a doubt formal written examination is used widely as assessment criteria.

Advancement in technology has open doors for alternate ways to assess educational
skills and abilities. This essay will discuss the validity of formal exams as assessment
criteria.

Feedback: In the question they never asked you about the alternative ways of
assessment.

Second line can be written as: The moot question as to whether the formal written
assessment is reasonable is an interesting issue upon which opinion varies greatly.

FIRST LINE: Many students dislike exams and children of all ages seem to have a diet
of more and more exams that they have to take.

FULL

Many students dislike exams and children of all ages seem to have a diet of
more and more exams that they have to take. Without a doubt formal written
examination is used widely as assessment criteria. The moot question as to
whether the formal written assessment is reasonable is an interesting issue upon
which opinion varies greatly. This essay will discuss the validity of formal
exams as assessment criteria.
8

To begin with, formal written exams have been used as single most assessment
criteria for decades. The main concern is that, it tests student’s memory not
skills. For instance a medical student may memorize text book from cover to
cover, and score top grades, however he might not be able to handle the
practical requirements of the profession: such as doing a surgery. Moreover, by
merely preparing well for exam one can achieve high score, however this does
not prove that he is good at that subject. Most people forget what they have
studied in a short period.

Secondly, this assessment style is vulnerable to cheating, fraud and human

error. Students use variety of methods to cheat and that may push them above
their peers. Furthermore, often exams get rescheduled because of paper leak.
Many students send their papers for recheck and bribe the examiners if they are
not happy with their marks.

So to sum up, schools should look at alternate ways that will test student’s skills
in diverse ways. They must approach assessment from holistic approach and
written assessment should only be a part of it.

10. Large shopping malls are replacing small shops. What’s your opinion? Good
or bad?

Without a doubt, mall culture is spreading its wings in most urban areas by replacing
small shops. As a consumer it’s much convenient for us as we can shop for most of our
requirement under one roof. In this essay we will look at some pros and cons of this
trend.

Feedback: Second sentence must include what is asked in the question. That tells the
reader if u have understood the question or not and the third sentence must inform what
u will write in the essay. Tip: Just paraphrase the question.

It can also be written as: The question whether this boom of mall's trend is positive or
negative is a complex issue, upon which opinion varies greatly.

HINT: Yes, good – Everything under one roof – Food court – International brands –

9

NO – Impacting local sellers – same brands everywhere – rich becoming richer – High
prices as seller has to cover his high maintenance cost –replacing traditional methods

Sample
Large malls are spreading its wings all around the globe and replacing the traditional small
shops. Convenience, facilities and variety of options has made them most preferred choice
of customers. I am of the opinion that, regulators should promote these malls but not at the
cost of small shops.

To begin with, in this contemporary era, everyone wants everything quick. The infrastructure
of big malls facilitates consumers to buy variety of products under one roof. Malls cater for
all the needs of the buyers starting from their basic grocery to the high end luxury products
such as cars, furniture etc. Furthermore, these malls are equipped with large parking spaces,
lavatories, food courts, air conditioning, and entertainment arenas which make them much
more desirable than small shops. One can spend the entire day with their family or friends
as there is something for everyone.

Moreover, malls are proven good for the economy as they can generate more income,
create many employment opportunities. Although small shops can also do the same, but
compared to malls their contribution is significantly less. The major reasons to visit a small
shop can be its location or a specialized product or service.

In a nutshell, large malls are convenient and make people's life easier. Albeit, there are some
benefits of small shops, the advantages of large malls outweigh them. So this changing
trend is a boon for us.

FEEDBACK

Large malls are spreading THEIR wings all around the globe and replacing the traditional
small shops. Convenience, facilities (AMENITIES) and A variety of options has made them
THE preferred choice of CONSUMERS. I am of the opinion that, (NO COMMA HERE)
regulators should promote these (DON'T USE THESE) malls but not at the cost of small
shops.

To begin with, in this contemporary era, everyone WANTS everything quick. The
infrastructure of big malls facilitates consumers to buy a variety of products under one roof.
Malls cater TO all the needs of the buyers starting from their basic grocery to the high end
luxury products such as cars, furniture etc. Furthermore, these malls are equipped with large
parking spaces, lavatories, food courts, air conditioning, and entertainment arenas which
10

makes them much more desirable than small shop MARKETS. One can spend the entire day
with their (DON'T USE THEIR) family or a friend as there is something for everyone.

Moreover, malls HAVE proven good for the economy as they LEAD TO HIGHER REVENUE,
create many employment opportunities. Although small shops can also do the same, but
compared to malls their contribution is significantly less. The major reasons to visit a small
shop can be its location or a specialized product or service.

In a nutshell, large malls are convenient and make people's (DON'T USE PEOPLE) life easier.

11. Nowadays, people spend too much time at work to the extent that they hardly
have time for their personal life. Discuss.

SAMPLE

Balanced lifestyle is a key to happiness. Modern lifestyle has disrupted 'work-life balance'.
People spend most of their day at work and can hardly spare some time for personal life. I
am of the opinion that work and personal life must be balanced. Herein, we will discuss the
matter in details.

To begin with, balanced lifestyle involves mainly three things: health, recreation, and social
or family life. As we are progressing towards modernization many jobs are becoming
grueling. Many workers end up spending twelve to fourteen hours at work. However
increased hours do not guarantee increased productivity. It's usually opposite.
Consequently, the personal life suffers.

Moreover, many jobs involve sitting in front of the screen for long hours. This sedentary
lifestyle can have severe impact on health. If we spend excess time earning wealth and
ignore our health, eventually the wealth we have earned will go towards regaining our
health. So we must act wisely in the beginning. In addition, no family time can lead to poor
relationships which can eventually make one's life stressful.

To conclude, a balanced approach to health, profession, family and personal life will ensure
a healthy life. Simply by learning to manage out time we can live a stress free life. So we
need to understand that life is balanced blend of many things. Profession is part of life, not
the other way round.
11

FEEDBACK:

Balanced lifestyle is THE key to happiness. Modern lifestyle, COMMONLY CHARACTERISED

BY HIGH LEVELS OF STRESS, has disrupted the work-life balance IN OUR LIVES. MOST OF US
spend AN INCREASINGLY LARGE PROPORTION OF OUR DAY AT WORK LEAVING LITTLE
ROOM FOR RELAXATION AND PERSONAL LIFE. I am of the opinion that THERE IS AN
IMMEDIATE NEED FOR WORK-LIFE BALANCE TO BE RESTORED. Herein, we will discuss the
matter in DETAIL.

To begin with, A balanced lifestyle involves mainly three things: health, recreation, and social
or family life. As we are progressing towards modernization many jobs are becoming
grueling. Many workers end up spending twelve to fourteen hours at work. However
increased hours do not guarantee increased productivity. It's usually THE opposite.
Consequently, the personal life TAKES A TOLL.

In addition, LITTLE family time can lead to
poor relationships which can eventually make one's life stressful.

To conclude, a balanced approach to health, profession, family and personal life will ensure
a healthy life. Simply by learning to manage out time we can live a stress free life. So we
need to understand that life is A balanced blend of many things. WORK is ONLY A part of
life AND SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO TAKE PRECEDENCE OVER OTHER EQUALLY
IMPORTANT ASPECTS OF LIFE.

Consider this sentence “Profession is part of life, not the other way.” Ignore the question for
a second and try to imagine what would be the “other way”? The way I see it, the “other
way” would be that life is a part of profession, which I don’t think what you wanted to say.

Since last half century Veganism and animal rights is making headlines. With
the advancement of technology many shocking videos have been coming out on animal
cruelty and many are becoming aware of animal rights. I advocate that Zoos are hurting
animal more than helping them. This essay will compile the reasons how animals are
getting hurt in Zoos and Zoos should be managed properly rather than put an embargo
on them.

To begin with, it’s been taught is schools that’s Man is an evolution of and originated
from monkeys, so why cage our ancestors? The Zoos are mostly commercialized
and rob animals from their right of living in natural habitat. Many are have to spend their
entire life in a cage just because some more powerful species like humans can watch
them and experiment on them. (Recent example from Zimbabwe where an American
Dentist killed the Lion in the Zoo for the fun) Moreover, there are alternate ways
to see them in their natural habitat. For example, African safaris (take) have
safe vehicles which go into jungles and forests and get to see these animals
and sometimes feed them as well. In this way humans get to travel as well as
watch them without hurting them.

On the contrary some may argue that everyone cannot afford to travel and pay for
safari’s. However in my opinion for our convenience those animals have to pay the price
of their freedom and a lifetime in artificial caged environment.

So conclude, we should live in harmony with nature and other living entities.
Just because we have more intelligence and have ability to capture and control
them does not make us superior.

21. The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but
those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn. Agree or Disagree?

literacy. With rapid changes in technology it has become necessary to adapt new stills
and dump the obsolete. This essay will discuss compelling reasons to accord with the
rubric statement.

22. The only thing that interferes with my leaning is my education- Einstein. What
does he mean by that?
And do you think he is correct?

As Fred Durst has said, "it's amazing what you learn, when you have never been
taught". In the given statement Einstein was conveying the message that, formal
education can be a hindrance to one's learning as it imposes a generic view on things
16

around us. In my opinion lessons we learn from life outweigh the teachings of
systematic education. Herein, we will discuss few reasons to express our opinion on the
subject matter.

Or

2nd statement: Einstein was alluding to potential hindrances rooted in education.

23. "Marketing strategy for some companies is offers and discounts, for some it
is reputation. Should consumer goods companies concentrate special discounts
and offers to promote their products or they should focus on reputation? What do
you think is more important?

Many FMCG firms face the problem of choosing between short-term strategies versus
long term goals. The moot question is whether to opt for short term discounting strategy
or to invest in building reputation is a complex issue, upon which opinions may vary. I
believe that the benefits company can enjoy from elevated reputation outweigh those
from offers and discount which will be discussed in this essay

24. Communication has changed significantly in the last 10 years. Discuss the

positive and negative impacts of this change

Communication has drifted to a whole new direction and treading expeditiously towards
next level. Albeit it has been regarded as a boon to humanity, conversely it has also
afflicted many people in way that was never thought before. Herein we will shed a light

25. You are given climate as the field of study. Which area will you

prefer? Explain why you picked up the particular area for your study.
17

This question sounds bit obscure, I think this topic is incorrectly written. What do you
think? I can't fathom this question. Anyways, I'll try….

Climate is a vast area of study. I would focus on 'Climate Change' as an area of study.
The reason being, we need to be concerned about drastic environmental changes that
are claiming many lives since last couple of decades.

26. Modern lifestyle has made it harder for people to live a healthy and active
lifestyle.
What are the causes of this situation?
Suggest what can be done by the government and large organizations to improve
it.

It is undeniable that, modern lifestyle has made is made it tough to maintain healthy and
fit lifestyle. Nuclear families and artificially created wants have made it necessary for
people to work around the clock. Herein we will discuss compelling reasons & possible
solutions to improve the situation.

In this modern era with the improved technology and communication it has become
easier for sellers to market their products and outreach their customers. It's has
artificially created wants for extraneous things which can be avoided. To buy these
products people have to work hard and most of the office Kobe push a person into a
sedentary lifestyle. Moreover after finishing a day, people find it difficult to cook and do
their chores so most of them order in or eat out which might not be that healthy
compared to home cooked meals.

To make things better, government and corporate can step forward to take some action.
For instance, offices can make themselves equipped with some fitness equipments and
recreational rooms. They should involve their employees in some sort of sports or
outdoor activities. Furthermore, government should keep some fixed number of working
hours so no one is tethered up to work long hours.

In a nutshell, health is a real wealth so individual should understand the importance of

18

active and healthy lifestyle rather than inactive wealthy lifestyle and transform their life
by taking baby steps towards a fit and healthy life.

HINTS: Reasons: Globalization – Marketing – Materialism – Competition – Privatization

Solutions: Govt.: Policy reform – Fixed Hours

Corporate: Better facilities – gym membership – healthy meals –

Events - Sports – Regular health Check up

27. Travel to study is overrated. We have brilliant scholars who studied locally. Is
travel really required for higher study?

It is proven fact that many extraordinary intellectuals have been produces locally;
however it has become a trend to travel for studies. I believe that both the statements
can be justified with valid arguments. This essay will shed light on both the aspects of
the argument.

Recent statistics portray an uptrend of students travelling to study. Firstly majority of

pupils leave their comfort zones, as there are few options available locally. Especially in
densely populated cities, unless one has brilliant score in their academics throughout,
they cannot get into the studies of their choice. Secondly travelling to study gives one
an option to live independently. As per that old saying “It’s amazing what you learn,
when you are never been taught” those students who travel to study get more exposure,
which is good for the community and society.

On the contrary, it is undeniable that most of the brilliant scholars have studied locally.
The simple reason behind that can be is they might want to study in their close vicinity.
As mentioned in the sentence “brilliant scholars”, since these students are already
brilliant it’s easy for them to crack into local universities or colleges.

All in all, travelling to study is an individual’s choice in my opinion. There are multiple
factors that can affect a person’s decision. Eventually it’s all depends on one’s goals
and abilities that decides which option he will exercise.

In some countries around the world, voting is compulsory.Do you agree with the notion of compulsory
voting?
19

If Voting is compulsory in democratic society, what conclusions can we draw about ‘Nature of
democracy?’

Compulsory voting in a democratic society is undeniably a controversial topic as it raises a question:

how democratic a nation will be with or without compulsory voting. This system has many benefits to
the nation, if it is implemented in a right manner. In this essay we will discuss the nature of democracy
with few examples of compulsory voting.

Democracy is also known as republic, is a governing system where the citizens of the country vote to
one of the several parties competing for the President’s position. If only 30% of the people vote then
outcome of the election will be unfair, as those who did not vote may not like the party that won the
election. For instance, In America, Bill Clinton won when mere 34% of the total population voted.
Similarly in India on an average only 50 to 55% of the people vote and rest have to accept the rules
drafted by the unwanted members of the parliament.

Turning to the compulsory voting, in Australia voting is compulsory since last 80 years. Almost 90% of
public participate and there is a little fine for those who don’t participate. Moreover, in South American
nations like Peru and Bolivia there are harsh punitive action against those who don’t vote. For example,
Non Voters are barred from accessing their own bank accounts for up to 3 months. This is the reason
