Evangelization Output on Sinulog Festival

This picture was taken during the solemn procession of the miraculous image of
Sto. Nino that have taken place last Saturday, January 18, 2020. As what can be
observed, it was attended by thousands of people. Many of them were carrying at least
one image of Sto. Niño. It has been anticipated that the event would invite many
pilgrims and devotees to attend. To maintain safety and security, the crowd control was
actively participated by students of different colleges/ universities within Cebu City area
to serve as human barricades as a form of civil service. Aside from the students, peace
officers and organizers also helped manage the crowd to make sure that unfortunate
events like stampedes would not occur.

As a non-Catholic, it was my first to participate at such event for compliance of

our CWTS subject. Amidst the intense heat of the sun, I saw how the people willingly
dedicated their time, effort, and energy to honor the procession of the image of Child
Jesus. I believe that their offering served as their expression of gratitude for the
blessings they receive and some are bringing all the hopes that the Sto. Niño would
perform miracles in their lives. Despite the diverse reasons they have, I can infer that
Christianity is a bridge for relationship and is a relationship itself as each responds to
the challenge in promoting unity. Moreover, I also feel grateful because in our
fragmented and divisive world of today where we are dealing with crisis in faith, many
people still strive to find time in exercising their roles as Christians.
