You describe lightning storms as "rare," which shows me you don't come from Ohio, as I do. I have every
expectation of being out in at least a few even living in one place.

March of next year (2019), I’m setting out to drift across the United States awhile. I’ll have emergency cash,
in case I need a motel, etc., but I’d really like to avoid the creature comforts as much as possible. However,
I’m having a dilemma: should I take a tent, or just a tarp? The downside of a tent is the weight, and replacing
it. I imagine after months of nightly use, I’ll probably need a replacement.
The downside of the tarp is less protection from the elements. I’ve found a couple of tarp set-ups online that
would give me a floor/ground cover, and that are fully enclosed. However, it looks like even enclosed tarp
configurations would likely let in water, especially during a downpour. The major upside: a tarp may be a bit
lighter, and it will much easier to replace, and probably cheaper, I would think. So, if at all possible, I’d prefer
using a tarp.
But, that’s just a guess. I’m hoping someone with more experience in tent vs. tarp configurations, could offer
advice on the best shelter system to take with me. ANY advice would be appreciated. I have all the other
gear I’ll need, and enough survival experience to not die from starvation or exposure, but I’m drawing a
blank on what kind of shelter would be most ideal.

Also postage for envelope usps cost is pretty low have a trusted person to send out food and have it held at
post office.

43 yr old woman is looking for someone to help share expenses and maybe look out for each other during
the trip. (Lots of freaks out there, ladies. Be careful!) Wanted to leave Nov but that is not going to happen
unfortunately and it's possible to leave mid March or else I'll have to just wait again til Oct 2017. Good luck

anywhere in the far West Coast. The route isn't thoroughly thought through yet, but I am looking for a

amazing info man i plan on taking a walk across montana soon and this guide will be extremely helpful! i
plan to walk from my favorite place lincoln mt to my home town culbertson in memorie of my father and to
honor my mother aswell its only about 400 miles but this guide hopefully provides me with the necessities to
do so!
