DHL Express Courier Company

DHL Worldwide Express is the one of the largest and oldest courier company. DHL Express consist of
DHL Airways and DHL International. It was found in 1969 as an air-courier company from California
to Hawaii, then started to grow up rapidly and dominated the global marketplace with deliveries to
227 countries.

DHL was found by three young men, shipping executives – Adrian Dalsey, Larry Hillbloom and Robert
Lynn. The idea was to increase turnaround speed for ships at ports. If the documents could be
inspected and proceed before the ships arrived to port, it would be possible to speed up and
decrease the costs for shippers.

The first main customer was Bank of America, which needed a company to move theirs documents.

DHL Express became an International branch in early 1970s when they began flying routes to Far
East.

Two years later there were two separate companies , DHL International LTD, based in Brussels,
Belgium. DHL Airways Inc., was based in Redwood City in California.

In further activity on global market, DHL to boost its part on the American market, initiated two
dominat hubs at airports in Cincinnati and Salt Lake City and joined nine mini hubs in main cities
crosswise the country.

After the installation of hubs, DHL was offering place to place overnight service between 126
American cities.

DHL Worldwide became one of the greatest company in the United States in 1989, with 18,000
employees, along with 50 million purchases.

DHL Express main goal is to be a good provider, employer and investment of choice, besides the
company working very hard to become a benchmark for responsible businesses. DHL Express offers
the customers the highest delivery service. Starting from warehouse solutions from packing, to
repairs, to storage. DHL Express would like to prepare their customers, employees and investors to

place.

which automates all transactions, control achievement, tracks every package in transit and executes
standard business rules.

These business rules are saved in a set of Global Standard Operating Procedures (GSOPs) which
contains all leading business operations.

The IT system compose with the systems of the different bearer and airline companion, a level of
assimilation that is both compound. After all, it distribute precise and fundamental data to the DHL
system, right down to the details of exactly where a package is loaded. DHL Express is using
forecasting system to monitor and forecast how many shipments should be moved between
distinctive areas.
Their focus in the future is to improve shipment visibility, new transport management system and
electronic document management.
