This study examined the effect of motion therapy on independence in schizophrenic patients at the Gramesia Kedawung nursing home in Cirebon City in 2019. 30 patients participated in the quasi-experimental study. Patients' level of independence was measured before and after receiving motion therapy via questionnaire. Statistical analysis found that patients' average level of independence increased after motion therapy, from 2.53 to 2.90. Motion therapy was found to have a significant effect on improving independence in schizophrenic patients, with a p-value of 0.001. The study recommends the nursing home increase nurses' knowledge and skills in conducting motion therapy to improve client care.

In people with schizophrenia, there is a breakdown between the processes
of thought, emotion, will, and psychomotor, accompanied by distortion of reality which is mainly due to insights and hallucinations. This causes schizophrenia to tend to withdraw and it is difficult to socialize with others, this event can facilitate the occurrence of hallucinations in people with schizophrenia so that it can prolong the healing process. One way to overcome this is how we can trigger schizophrenia to always move. The purpose of this study was the effect of motion therapy on independence in schizophrenic patients in the 2019 gramesia Kedawung town of Cirebon. This type of research is used in this study is quasy-experimental population of 30 respondents. The number of samples taken were 30 respondents with the total sampling formula. Data were obtained using questionnaires and analyzed statistically using paired t-test. From the statistical test it was found that the average level of independence in the Gramesia Institution in 2019 before the motion therapy intervention was 2.53, the average (mean) score of the level of independence in Gramesia Nursing in 2019 after the intervention of motion therapy was 2.90. (there is an increase), there is the effect of motion therapy on the level of independence in schizophrenic patients in the Gramesia 2019 nursing home p. value = 0.001. In connection with the results of this study at Gramesia Cirebon Institution to take policy in increasing the knowledge and ability of nurses in conducting motion therapy as an effort to improve service to clients.
