Guidelines for the implementation of the course task:

On the basis of self-training tutorial, learned topics in practical classes and tutorial
materials and lectures, as well as using additional literature, including materials on
the Internet, a student must:

Part 1.
Define the problem in public health, choose a topic, formulate the goal and
objectives of the study, propose a plan (the object of study, the type and method of
observation) and the program of statistical research (unit of observation, data
collection and program development program material (models of statistical
tables) .

Part 2.
In the complex task to assess the situation in the city K. and to analyze the state of
health of the population of this city at the moment and in the dynamics (if in the

problem presented material), determine the possibility of graphic and submit it, to
make a brief summary of the analyzed material.

Theme (topic) : The problem of obesity among students of the University


Aim (purpose) : To elaborate measures to prevent obesity among students of
the University
Tasks :
1. To investigate to frequency of obesity students of the University
2. To reveal the factors, that can influence the frequency of obesity
among students of the University
3. To describe reasons of obesity among students
4. Find out frequency of obesity among woman and men
5. To elaborate measures to prevent obesity among students of the
University

Units of research : Students from Sechenov University :-

(1) Male student : age 17-25 years old


(2) Female student : age 17-25 years old
Signs of unit of research:
1. Attribute variables are sex, habits, , faculty, hereditary
2. Quantitative variables are age, amount of fatty food consumed, course,
weight, height, BMI
3. Factorial are lifestyle, diet, heredity
4. Result of any disease, health status
Object of research: Students from MSMU (n=1000)

Volume – sample (the students of the 3rd course of the University, part of students
from 1st course of the University)
