COVID-19

ARTICLE

The COVID-19 virus or novel coronavirus, the name itself is enough to fill the minds of common
people, doctors and even the government with fear. The rapid spread of this virus has resulted
in locking of the people into their own homes, while policemen and doctors remain in the
battlegrounds fighting against it in every possible way. It has also frozen the entire economic
activities of the nations depriving many of their livelihoods.

The virus is said to have its origin in Wuhan city of China and slowly took over the entire world.
The virus spreads in a chain reaction and multiplies itself as it progresses. It can spread from
infected through the air by coughing, personal contact, contaminated objects and mass
gathering. The common symptoms of the affected person include dry cough, high fever, sore
throat and difficulty in breathing.

Total reported cases worldwide amount to 3485936 til today, total deaths to the virus are
1369296 in number. However, 1124484 number of people have also recovered from it all over
the world, but the health authorities have still not found any proper medication for it. Hence,
social distancing, sanitizing, washing hand at regular intervals have emerged out as the few
preventions of this disease.

EDITORIAL

A virus that took the lives of many, made people jobless and ruined the economies of the
nations. Even global leaders like America and Italy could not save themselves and are still
battling against his fatal virus. How will the people survive in such terrible times, is a big
question for the governments across the globe now?

However, measures form home governments cannot be overlooked which the took to relief the
lower strata of the society and the students during this situation. While The health organisation
also came forward to spread awareness about the pandemic, guiding people with the
precautions and safety measures to be followed. UNESCO also came up with various E-
learning solutions to help parents, teachers, schools and school administrators facilitate student
learning and provide social care and interaction during periods of school closure.

China’s silence over this issue has brought it under the suspicion and target globally. The
disappearance of people from china who first told the world about this virus also clearly tells
about China’s intentions and its will of becoming a global leader.

FEATURE
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered
coronavirus. COVID stands for coronavirus disease and 19 stands for its year of origin. The first
traces of the virus was found in Wuhan city of China towards the end of December 2019. The
coronavirus was declared a pandemic by WHO when it increased by 13 folds in two weeks in
March.

Total reported cases worldwide amount to 3485936 til today, total deaths to the virus are
1369296 in number. The three-phase extended lockdown in India starting from 24tha March
2020 to 17th May 2020 is the best possible decision ever taken in this regard. However,
1124484 number of people have also recovered from it all over the world. India has successfully
controlled the transmission of COVID-19 to date, thanks to our well-coordinated steps to tackle
the Corona epidemic. India’s prowess in pharmaceuticals and health science; mass public
awareness with the help of digital systems; and a central political command; among others,
indeed helped in containing the spread so far.

In a situation where countries with adequate health facilities could not perform efficiently, India
managed to stand out the league. Being less equipped with medical assistance, India has set
an example for others by significantly controlling the growth rate of the virus.
Thanks to the government of India and Mr Narendra Modi who seriously evaluated the situation
and did the best possible.
