What is a suggestion :-
A suggestion is an idea about what we or other people could be.

For example.We can suggest tourists what to do we can give


them ideas about where to go or how to spend ther times
When you’re making suggestions in English, you’re putting forward a
plan or an idea for another person to think about.

A majority of people make suggestions all the time. For example,


when they’re deciding what to do, offering advice, or helping
someone. When we’re making suggestions in English, we have an
open dialogue. 

 THER ARE TWO FORMULAS FOR GIVIING SUGGESTION `S :-

1- Formal
 You should , you should not
 If I were you I have to …
 I would advise you to …

2- Informal
 It would be a good idea to …
 You should , you should not
 The best advise I can give is ..
 Why don’t you

If you make a suggestion, you put forward an idea or plan for


someone to think about.

Ex:- you should take a walk when you feel lazy

Ex:- it would be a idea to join with us in the party

and their other forms to suggestion like :-

how about / what about


When you ask a question using How about, you are asking someone if they agree
with what you are suggesting.

How about/what about + -ing?


Ex:- How about starting a book club?
Ex:- What about opening your present now?

How about + present simple?


A: How about I pick you up at eight o’clock on my way to the airport?

B: Great. I’ll see you then

Responding to suggestions
we can use this forms to respond suggestion :-

Yes, OK.
That’s a good idea.
That sounds great!
No, I don’t think so.
I’m not sure about that.
I’d prefer to ... (+ verb).

Ex:-

Imagine that you haven’t seen a good friend in a month. In a telephone call,
your friend tells you she would like to get together for dinner but can’t think
of a restaurant to go to. So, you offer an idea

. I’d love to have dinner on Friday but I’m not sure where.
How about we go to Chez Philip?
that’s a Good idea! I haven’t been there in over a year.

Declining suggestions
A few phrases for declining a suggestion include:

I’d  prefer…
That’s a good idea but…
I’m not sure.

When you decline a suggestion, you may want to then politely suggest


something else.

Ex:-

I’m not sure. Chez Philip is not my favorite. How about Fearless Farmers?
