CHILDERS FINAL PROJECT 2
Position Paper:
Technology in schools should remain exactly where they are. Technology can enhance
relationships between teachers and students. Technology also makes collaborating and working
with other students more fun and helps the creative side of the work show through. Technology
Building relationships with our students is an important part of teaching. When teachers
can connect with their students it creates a healthy and safe feeling learning environment. When
we show interest in our students lives it shows that we care about them. If we can hold a
conversation about the latest Tik Tok challenge, then it shows we are not closed minded about
the world around us. Technology also helps teachers keep the student up to date at ABC
Community school. We use Google Alerts to remind the students they have assignments due the
next day and or that night. When we got the Interactive Tables not one of the teachers new how
to use it until we read the manual, however the students took to using the tables like it was
breathing. Keeping technology in school will help keep teachers on track with technology.
Technology helps keep the students in a collaborating environment and makes it easier.
They can do and complete assignments from home. According to Hoffman and Ramierez
“Student-centered technologies have not only increased student motivation and academic
performance, but interactive technologies can lead to differentiated instruction through which
students have again shown higher motivation.” Files can be transferred from students to other
students. They can work on it at the same time from different locations. There is no worrying
about “Oh, Allie has the paper.” but instead anyone can log in and turn in the work as long as its
shared.
CHILDERS FINAL PROJECT 3
When asking different kids why they think technology is important, a thirteen-year-old
boy named Xailin said “Technology has helped me learn things I could need for my job in the
future.” Technology is not slowing down, taking it away from the students would be more

CHILDERS FINAL PROJECT 4
Starting with Creativity the national standard is “Students demonstrate creative thinking,
construct knowledge, and develop innovative products and processes using technology.” and the
Nevada Standard is “Process new ideas based on existing knowledge to brainstorm solutions to
an authentic problem using digital tools.” Both standards focus on creating new ideas and using
digital tools to solve problems. The difference is Nevada focuses more on specifically creating
new ideas.
When looking at Collaborations the National Standard is “Students use digital media and
individual learning and contribute to the learning of others.” this is making sure the students are
still in touch while they are not in the same location. The Nevada Standard is “Collaborate to
create and publish digital products to share beyond the classroom.” This is more along the lines
Lastly, I will look at Critical Thinking. The National Standard for Critical thinking is
“Students use critical thinking skills to plan and conduct research, manage projects, solve
problems, and make informed decisions using appropriate digital tools and resources.” This is
having the students use their skills to make informed decisions about problems. The Nevada
Standard is “Plan and manage projects using a digital planning tool.” They are using digital tools

role in choosing, achieving, and demonstrating competency in their learning goals, informed by
the learning sciences. 1.c Students use technology to seek feedback that informs and improves

Procedure: Step 1: The students will decide whether to work individually or in a pair.
Step 2: They will then decide what book/play they will create a family tree for.

Step 3: The students will review said book or play and refresh their memories on the characters
Step 4: List the characters to determine how big the family tree will be.
Step 5: Using PowerPoint or Google Slides create the family tree of a character.
Step 6: Look at how the book describes the character and find an actor/actress that matches the
Step 7: Find a quote for a minimum of three of the characters. The quote should showcase their
character.
