Benefits of Online Platform for Students’ Entrepreneurship Skills

In this era, technology is developing rapidly. When the first time Internet
invented in 1969, the system was used only for military needs. Today, most of people
can access Internet freely. According to Henri (2018), as Indonesian Internet Service
Providers Association, that around 117 million people already have access to the
Internet. Therefore, many work fields already used Internet to ease their works and
cheaper. Internet also can be beneficial for students, when they had an assignment
and homework, many students use Internet to help them complete the assignment.
The other benefits of Internet, it provides many online platforms, such as blogs, social
media, and etc. Online platform has many benefits for people, especially students.
They use online platform to communicate with others, even someone who they talk
with far away from them, or only for sharing their daily life. The other benefits of
Online platform, especially for students in Indonesia, is it can induce students’
entrepreneurship skills because it can motivate students, help to get new connections,
and provide a lot of business choices.

Browsing others’ social media or personal blogs can motivate students to

become entrepreneurs. For example, according to Hwang (2017) there is a student
named Wolin, she is co-founder of Find Your Ditto. She said that she is looking for
each person who has willingness to steadily share their successes and struggles that
inspiring and motivating. It implies that people can be motivated when they heard or
read others’ successes and struggles. Online platform can provide many stories of
other success not only from their own country but even wider. Based on to
Stastista.com, a well-known statistical news source for tech stats, in an article posted
by blogging.org, it showed that there were around 350 million in July 2017 blogs
only from Tumblr.

According to liputan6.com, there some skills needed to become an

entrepreneur, one of them can motivate others. Most entrepreneurs use online
platform or becoming a motivator. Personal blog is one of the online platforms that
entrepreneurs usually use when they wanted to share their success stories. According
to Dekmezian (2016), there are some benefits to write a blog, such as sharing
knowledge with others. Therefore, many entrepreneurs also use their market blog to
attract their customers to visit their personal blog, so the customers could be inspired
to become an entrepreneur by reading their stories. Customers may think if they could
communicate with people who inspire him/her, so they have a good connection with a
successful entrepreneur. 

In this era there are so many online platforms that provide information can
help students seeking internship or new job, so students can foster an entrepreneurial
spirit because they get lots of new connections and get lots of information about
business so students get new knowledge about business, through internship students
increase knowledge, skills in the field of business and socializing with other
entrepreneurs, the example platforms are Indeed.com, Idealist.org and LinkedIn.

Online workshop can be beneficial for students to induce their entrepreneur

skills. By joining online workshop students will get some benefits. Firstly, facilitate
them with tools that required to start their own business. Secondly, improve their
chances of successfully starting their own business. Thirdly, student will have small
business simulation. The examples of online workshop are Myidea-campus and
Expara. 

Internet has become a major facility for students in various sectors which
contributes greatly the fundamental changes in student activity. Internet also has been
used by some students who can see business opportunities from the technology. The
influence and role of internet has indirectly motivated to induce their entrepreneurial
skills and also provide a new business connection. Therefore, the internet as online
platform provides a lot of business choices for students. The example of business
choices by using online platform are youtuber, free writer, and endorsement. 
 Nowadays many people in Indonesia use the Internet compared to when
Internet invented. They use Internet not only for browsing social media but also to
ease their job because Internet can provide any information that they need. For
example, the Internet can provide an online platform that can induce students’
entrepreneurship skills, by giving much information that can inspire them, giving
many opportunities to meet new people, and providing many choices to start a new
business.
