Abstract:
Aside from the popular Western brand, the phenomenal Korean pop music sets an ultra-
competitive standard every solo or group acts should follow in order to successfully cater a
wide population with best-selling hits. Performed with sophistication towards choreography
and overall production, the standard often tolerates most K-pop acts preferably debuting
immediately and doing the same concept repeatedly. LOOΠΔ, a 12-member girl group, is the
exact opposite of all stereotypes. Each of the members became part of the 18-month long and
expensive pre-debut project accompanied with a complex yet relevant storyline before being
promoted as a group. To further understand LOOΠΔ, this paper analyzes how various
grammar. Viewing LOOΠΔ from a lens of an individual, derived Gestalt theories and the
following one’s innate desires, completing as one, and rising above the social standards
through music and other possible forms. Analyzing these forms, this paper affirms that the
wholeness of LOOΠΔ as a group suggests an effect where anyone under the influence might
strengthen potential and bring closer one’s gaps, develop patterns and relations out of
nearness and sameness, and stand against one’s fate. This influence highly encourages other
acts to deviate from the norms in a self-accepting, inclusive, and empowering move.
