This document contains 4 questions asking to sketch T-s diagrams for different steam and gas turbine power cycles, and calculate the thermal efficiency for a Rankine cycle with reheat and feedwater heaters and a Brayton cycle gas turbine. Specifically, it asks the student to sketch T-s diagrams for a steam power plant with one open and three closed feedwater heaters and a gas turbine with two-stage compression, two-stage expansion and regeneration, and calculate the thermal efficiency for a Rankine cycle with specified operating conditions and a generic Brayton cycle.

Figure 2: A gas-turbine engine with two-stage compression with intercooling,
two-stage expansion with reheating, and regeneration 3. A steam power plant operates on an ideal-regenerative Rankine cycle with one reheater and two open feedwater heaters as shown in Figure 3. Steam enters the high pressure turbine at 10 MPa and 600 C and leaves the low pressure turbine at 7.5kPa. Steam is extracted from the turbine at 1.8 and 03 MPa and it is reheat to 550 C at a pressure of 1 MPa. Water leaves both feed waters as saturated liquid. Heat is transfer to the steam in the boiler at a rate of 400 MW. Calculate the thermal efficiency of the system.
