CODES REASON EFFECT

Fault Code: 143 Engine Oil Pressure Low - Progressive power derate increasing in severity
PID(P), SID(S): P100 Warning. Engine oil pressure from time of alert.
SPN: 100 signal indicates engine oil pressure
FMI: 1/18 is below the engine protection

Engine Oil Pressure

Circuit Description:
The engine oil pressure sensor monitors oil pressure and passes information to the electronic control module (ECM)
through the engine harness. If the oil pressure becomes too low based on engine speed, it will cause a derate condition.

Component Location:
The engine oil pressure sensor is located on the left side of the engine block, below and to the rear of the integrated
fuel system module (IFSM). Refer to Section E for a detailed component location view.

Shop Talk:
The engine oil pressure sensor measures the pressure of the oil in the oil rifle on the left-hand side of the engine block.
Possible causes of this fault code include:
• Mechanical failures such as lubricating oil pump, lubricating oil high pressure relief valve, loose lubricating oil filter
• Breakdown or contamination of the lubricating oil
• Plugged lubricating oil filter.
