Internship ON SOUTH ASIAN STUDIES

Krityanand UNESCO Club, Jamshedpur is a non-government organization (NGO) established in 1992, Registered Under Societies Registration Act, 1860
and has Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.

The Krityanand UNESCO Club is pleased to announce new research internship placements in South Asia
for summer 2020, and offers research internships to students who are interested in furthering their research
on South Asia. This summer internship programs continues run due to COVID-19, (Work from Home), and
are aimed at Under Graduate and Post Graduate students. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested
in broadening their horizons and learning more about Contemporary South Asian. During their time with us,
each intern produces a supervised research project, chosen by them with guidance from Senior Research
Associate. It is dedicated to research on contemporary South Asia. It seeks to promote understanding of this
vital region of the world, and to communicate knowledge and insights about it to policymakers, the business
community, academia and civil society, in India and beyond.
Purpose
South Asian countries share a land mass that has the Himalayan Mountain ranges on the North and Bay of Bengal, Indian Ocean and Arabian
Sea towards the South. This land mass has a common weather system dominated by the South-Western Monsoon, common river system with
shared rivers that flow from one country to the other, a long common coast line and indeed a shared cultural heritage .With a rich and diverse
linguistic, cultural, and political history, South Asia has moved to the center of the global stage due to its dramatic economic growth and
strategic importance. The purpose of the Internship for South Asia Studies is to strengthen South Asia related research and education, and
provides an opportunity to engage with critical issues in a region.

Overview of the Program:

The Krityanand UNESCO Club is an institution of research and higher education dedicated to the study of Political Affairs, with a particular
emphasis on the cross-cutting fields of international relations and economic development issues. The Programme is aimed at students with a
strong analytical and quantitative background, and offers an unparalleled experience. The program in South Asian Studies provides an
opportunity to engage with critical issues in a region that includes Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka in an academic
environment that includes many of the most distinguished South Asia Studies faculty in the US. Students can deepen their knowledge of the
cultural, economic, political, and social processes shaping the region. Ideal for both professionals seeking regional knowledge and students
intending to pursue a PhD in the future, the South Asia Studies program prepares graduates for careers in government, public policy, non-
profit organizations, journalism, education, the private sector, and academia.

Objective:

It is dedicated to research on contemporary South Asia. It seeks to promote understanding of this vital region of the world, and to
communicate knowledge and insights about it to policymakers, the business community, academia and civil society, in India and beyond. The
program for South Asian Studies conducts research on a range of aspects of eight South Asian countries. All the academic activities including
teaching and interdisciplinary research have been designed to objectively study and analyses history, politics, foreign policy, security,
economies, environment, regional cooperation/integration and contemporary affairs in different regions.

Who it’s for

The SAS Internship concentration attracts diverse students from UG/PG Level only (Political Science).

CONCENTRATION: INTERNSHIP ON SOUTH ASIAN STUDIES (SAS)

The Concentration “The Contemporary South Asian Studies (SAS) “in program is a series of two-months Internship on The South Asian Studies.

Prerequisites:
Students are expected to have basic knowledge in Political Science, International Relations. Strong theoretical and empirical grounding in
South Asian politics and development.
Internship /Research Themes

South Asia Studies is a flexible program that offers students an interdisciplinary curriculum that may be tailored to their individual interests
and select any one theme according to interest.
