SIMPLE RESOLUTION NO. 3

.RESOLUTION EXPRESSING SYMPATHY AND CONDOLENCES OF THE SENATE


OF THE PHILIPPINES ON THE DEATH OF FORMER SENATOR JUAN DELA CRUZ

WHEREAS, the Honorable Juan Dela Cruz, a member of senate from 2025-2035,
educator, former cabinet member, and public servant passed away on June 28, 2043 at
the age of 83;

WHEREAS, he finished his degree at Technological Institute of the Philippines School


of Law with flying colors;

WHEREAS, in 2019, he was also appointed by President Tyrone Dela Torre as


Commissioner of Bureau of Internal Revenue, he was also appointed as Secretary of
Department of the Interior and Local Government by President Nicko Gonzales in 2016;

WHEREAS, he then ran for senator and placed 9 th during the May 5 2025 senatorial
elections;

WHEREAS, he led a life serving the public fighting the rampant culture of corruption;

WHEREAS, after his public service, he devoted himself to the private sector, serving as
the CEO of Dela Cruz Group of Companies, providing jobs for his co-Filipino people;
WHEREAS, his passing away is a great loss not only to his bereaved family, but to the
nation, as well;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, to express as it hereby


stated, its sympathy and condolences on the death of Honorable Juan Dela Cruz,
former Senator (2025-2035)

RESOLVED, FURTHER, that a copy of this Resolution be furnished the bereaved family
of Honorable Juan Dela Cruz.

CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 3

CONCURRENT RESOLUTION GRANTING CONSENT TO SENATOR WARLY


PABLO TO ACCEPT THE GRAND CORDON OF THE ORDER OF THE RISING SUN
TO BE CONFERED UPON HIM BY THE GOVERNMENT OF JAPAN

WHEREAS, he has been elected as Senator of the Republic of the Philippines since
2019 and is now serving his fourth term;

WHEREAS, he promoted the enhancement of the Philippines’ warm and friendly


relations with Japan;

WHEREAS, he has forged warm relations with the members of the Parliament of Japan:
obtaining development assistance from Japan; providing job for the Filipinos in Japan;
developing partnership for the progress of the nation’s economy; and reducing penalties
for law violations for Filipinos in Japan;

WHEREAS, due to his efforts to strengthen the relationship between Japan and
Philippines, the Government of Japan decided to award him with the Grand Cordon of
the Order of the Rising Sun;

WHEREAS, the Grand Cordon Order of the Rising Sun is one of the highest awards
given upon foreign nationals in the name of the Emperor of Japan;

WHEREAS, through this award, he has earned honor not just for himself, but for the
nation, as well;

Resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring, to grant consent to


the acceptance by the Honorable Warly Pablo of the Grand Cordon of the Order of the
Rising Sun to be given to him by the Government of Japan.

JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 4

DECLARING JULY 9 EVERY YEAR AS JOHN ROGER AQUINO DAY, A SPECIAL


NON-WORKING DAY IN TECHNOLOGICAL INSTITUTE OF THE PHILIPPINES IN
RECOGNITION OF THE ACHIEVEMENTS AND CONTRIBUTION OF JOHN ROGER
AQUINO IN THE INSTITUTION

WHEREAS, he enrolled at Technological Institute of the Philippines, College of Arts on


year 2012;

WHEREAS, he graduated with highest honors at the Technological Institute of the


Philippines, College of Law on year 2020;

WHEREAS, Aquino topped the Bar Exam of 2021 with an average of 97.3;

WHEREAS, he served as the Secretary of Department of Interior and Local


Government;

WHEREAS, he was elected Senator of the Republic of the Philippines from 2022-2031;

WHEREAS, he authored some of the following notable laws: Anti-Text Voyeurism Act;
An Act Restructuring the Expanded Value Added Tax; Anti-Discrimination for the Elderly
Act; An Act Restructuring Students, Elders, and Persons with Disabilities’ Discount;
Marijuana for Recreational Use Act; Plate Number for Every Vehicle Upon Purchase
Act; Anti-Firecracker Act; and the Philippine Act Against Discrimination of Indigenous
People, among any other laws;

WHEREAS, he was able to produce several law books which are used in the academe

WHEREAS, he was given Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun by the
Japanese Government for enhancing and strengthening the relationship of the
Philippine Government with the Japanese Government;

WHEREAS, through his achievement, he has earned honor not just for himself, but for
the Institution, and the Nation as well;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Senate and the House of


Representatives, to declare July 9 of every year as John Roger Aquino Day, a special
non-working day in Technological Institute of the Philippines in recognition of the
achievements and contribution of John Roger Aquino in the Institution
