By-products from wastewater treatment plants, such as screenings, grit and sewage sludge may
also be treated in a wastewater treatment plant.
Types of waste water treatment
Ultra Filtration is a membrane separation process. The membranes (hollow fiber) typically are
encased in a pressure vessel and the influent water is passed through the membranes by use of a
pump. The water passes in an inside-out configuration. The porosity of the membrane (100000
molecular weight) allows most of the colloids to be rejected out (drained from system) and allows
only partial amount of colloids in treated (permeate) water. Periodically, the membrane surface is
cleaned by back flushing using permeate water and fast-flushed using influent water. This helps in
maintaining the membrane surface for repeat use. The process of back flush and fast flush is
automated since the frequency of this cleaning process could be within 60 minutes of service
cycle.
Features:
RO - Reverse Osmosis
Reverse Osmosis is a membrane separation process. The membranes are housed in a pressure
vessel and the influent water is passed through the membranes by use of a high pressure pump.
The porosity of the membrane allows most of the dissolved impurities to be rejected (drained
from system) and allows only partial amount of TDS in treated (permeate) water.
Demineraliser
The influent water is led to a caution unit containing ion exchange resins in Hydrogen (H+)
form. When the influent water containing calcium, magnesium, sodium (Cautions in water) comes in
contact with the resins in Hydrogen form, Hydrogen ions are released in water in exchange of
Calcium, Magnesium and Sodium. A very small quantity of Sodium does escape through. Depending
on the feed water quality, the water is either led to a degasser tower or to an anion exchange unit.
Typically, a degasser tower is an atmospheric vessel containing a set of plastic packing rings. The
decationised water is sprayed in to the packing rings against an up flow of air.
This leads to a scrubbing action and dissolved gas viz. CO2 gets released and is vented out.
The degassed water is collected in a tank and then pumped to the Anion Exchange unit. The influent
water Decationised / degassed water are led to the anion unit containing ion exchange resins in
Hydroxyls (OH) form. The influent water containing chloride, sulphate, alkalinity, silica (anions in
water) comes in contact with the resins in Hydroxyl (OH) form, the OH ions gets released in water in
exchange of chloride, sulphate, Alkalinity and silica. A small quantity of silica slips through the anion
exchange unit. Ion Exchange reaction is a reversible one. On a predetermined time or output (when all
the H+ in caution resin and OH- in anion resin is exhausted), the unit is regenerated with HCl and
NaOH respectively.
It is a water purification process that uses a partially permeable membrane to remove ions,
unwanted molecules and larger particles from drinking water. In reverse osmosis, an applied pressure
Page 25 of 40
is used to overcome osmotic pressure, a colligative property that is driven by chemical potential
differences of the solvent, a thermodynamic parameter. Reverse osmosis can remove many types of
dissolved and suspended chemical species as well as biological ones from water, and is used in both
industrial processes and the production of potable water. The result is that the solute is retained on the
pressurized side of the membrane and the pure solvent is allowed to pass to the other side. To be
"selective", this membrane should not allow large molecules or ions through the pores, but should
allow smaller components of the solution.
Softner
Filter
This range of filters utilizes a single type sieved and graded sand based media with graded
silex and pebbles as support media. Options are available for the external vessel in fabricated mild
steel or FRP. All filters come with custom designed internals to ensure even distribution of
incoming water, uniform collection of the filtered water and proper dirt removal during
backwashing.
Features:
1. Conventional filtration
2. Low rate of filtration
3. Good filtrate quality
4. High frequency of backwash
5. Low capital cost
6. Easy availability
Feed water containing free chlorine must be reduced prior to use – to protect downstream
units from oxidation. Activated Carbon Filter helps in achieving reduction of free chlorine (up to
1 ppm) from feed water. Free Chlorine will not be detected in Dechlorinated water.
Raw water contains suspended solids which have to be removed prior to consumption.
Multigrade Sand Filter contains carefully selected two different grades of sand to provide surface
and depth filtration. Multigrade Sand Filter reduces suspended solids (10 to 25 ppm*) from raw
water. The filtered water will have a suspended solid of < 5 ppm which is acceptable for most of
the applications. Unit is to be backwashed with influent water at a predetermined time or on
attaining a differential pressure of 1 kg/cm2.
Features:
This range of filters utilizes a combination Anthracite, sieved and graded sand based
media with graded garnets as support media. Options are available for the external vessel
fabricated either in mild steel or FRP. All filters come with specially designed internals to achieve
higher filtration velocities and ensure even distribution of incoming water, uniform collection of
the filtered water and proper dirt removal during backwashing.
Features:
The treated water from a cation (degasser - optional) - anion unit will have a conductivity
of < 30 ms/cm at 25 deg C and a dissolved silica of < 0.5 ppm. Mixed Bed unit contains both
cation and anion exchange resin in mixed form, thus acting as multiple individual cation anion
unit in a single vessel. The trace sodium, silica from influent water is exchanged to produce the
desired treated water quality. Mixed Bed unit helps in achieving a conductivity of < 1 ms/cm at
25 deg C and a dissolved slicaof< 0.05 ppm.
The influent water contains typically 1 ppm of sodium (cation), traces of chlorides, alkalinity and
majorly dissolved silica (anion). The mixed bed unit contains both cation in H+ form and anion
resin (OH-) in mixed condition. When the influent water containing sodium (Cations in water)
comes in contact with the resins in Hydrogen form, Hydrogen ions are released in water in
exchange of sodium. Only trace amount of sodium does escape through. The influent water
containing small amount of chloride, alkalinity, silica (anions in water) comes in contact with the
anion resins in Hydroxyl (OH) form, the OH ions gets released in water in exchange of chloride,
Alkalinity and silica. A small quantity of silica slips through the anion exchange unit. Ion
Exchange reaction is a reversible one. At a predetermined time or output, (when all the H+ in
cation resin and OH- in anion resin is exhausted) the unit is regenerated with HCl and NaOH
respectively.

5.1.2. Sewage Treatment Plant
We are being pioneer in the field from a year and always in the search of latest and techno-
commercially viable technology, system by which the need of the society can be easily satisfied.
With the large demand and future requirement we came with the Portable Package Sewage
Treatment Plant concept.
It’s a FRP coated MS fabricated unit can be easily transported to site which thus reduces the
unnecessary civil cost, improves workmanship, speedy work and excellent treated water quality
As per the clients need and suitability we offer very latest technologies like MBBR, FAB, SAFF,
SBR and MBR.
Principal of Treatment:
It’s working on the principle of Aerobic Treatment with the help of aerobic bacteria,
which is most conventional and proven method throughout the world
Treatment Steps:
We employed various treatment methodologies for SEWAGE treatment which are:
We Design, Engineering,
Manufacture, Supply, Erect and
Commission Effluent Treatment Plant
(ETP) on Turnkey basis for various types
and natures of wastewaters, effluents
which combines advanced physico-
chemical treatment processes with tertiary
polishing system for the removal of
organic, inorganic oil, and grease, heavy
metals & suspended solids.
Our methodology - We analyze the effluent samples for different effluent parameters as per
nature and compositions, carry out the treatability studies by using different methods checking
techno-commercial Feasibility and then designed treatment schemes, processes accordingly to
suit the purpose and need.
Our ETP systems are very compact, tailor made designs, portable required very less foot-
print to accommodate, energy efficient. The up-gradation, modification in the existing ETP
system is possible to achieve desired limiting standard laid down by the Pollution Control Board
(PCB).

More and more, industries are prohibited from discharging any liquid waste
originating from their facilities. Whether to meet regulations – for difficult to-treat
wastewaters – or for situations where scarcity of water demands water recovery
(recycle/reuse) – ECOMAXET innovative Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) technologies help
you achieve environmental compliance, reduce your carbon footprint, create positive public
perception, and recover high purity water for reuse. Our proven ZLD technology eliminates
Page 31 of 40
liquid waste by converting it into disposable dry solids. ECO MAXET has extensive
experience treating a wide variety of industrial wastewaters from various industries such as
power, petrochemical, and oil & gas with our revolutionary technology.
Truly in line with the “green movement,” ECO MAXET- ZLD systems are
environmentally friendly and highly reliable. To meet strict environmental discharge
guidelines and provide effective treatment with the lowest possible life-cycle costs, we offer
integrated, site-specific ZLD solutions. These are based on standalone thermal/evaporative
processes, membrane processes, or a combination of the two, namely, hybrid systems
resulting in added value, ease of operation and reduced operating costs

Aerobic Treatment
It is also called (incorrectly) an aerobic septic system, is a small scale sewage treatment system
similar to a septic tank system, but which uses an aerobic process for digestion rather than just
the anaerobic process used in septic systems. These systems are commonly found in rural areas
where public sewers are not available, and may be used for a single residence or for a small group
of homes.
Unlike the traditional septic system, the aerobic treatment system produces a high quality
secondary effluent, which can be sterilized and used for surface irrigation. This allows much
greater flexibility in the placement of the leach field, as well as cutting the required size of the
leach field by as much as half.
Gas Chlorination:
Gas Chlorination is the process of adding chlorine or chlorine compounds such as sodium
hypochlorite to water. This method is used to kill certain bacteria and other microbes in tap
water as chlorine is highly toxic. In particular, chlorination is used to prevent the spread
of waterborne diseases such as cholera, dysentery, and typhoid is the process of

Nano Filtration:
It is a relatively recent membrane filtration process used most often with low total
dissolved solids water such as surface water and fresh groundwater, with the purpose of softening
(polyvalent cation removal) and removal of disinfection by-product precursors such as
natural organic matter and synthetic organic matter.Nano filtration is also becoming more widely
used in food processing applications such as dairy, for simultaneous concentration and partial
(monovalent ion) demineralization.
Filtration System:
It is any of various mechanical, physical or biological operations that separate solids from
fluids (liquids or gases) by adding a medium through which only the fluid can pass. The fluid that
passes through is called the filtrate. In physical filters oversize solids in the fluid are retained and
Page 36 of 40
in biological filters particulates are trapped and ingested and metabolites are retained and
removed. However, the separation is not complete; solids will be contaminated with some fluid
and filtrate will contain fine. Filtration occurs both in nature and in engineered systems; there
are biological, geological, and industrial forms.
Chemical Treatment:
It is used to control Acids and alkalis can usually be neutralized under controlled
conditions. Neutralization frequently produces a precipitate that will require treatment as a solid
residue that may also be toxic. In some cases, gases may be evolved requiring treatment for the
gas stream. Some other forms of treatment are usually required following neutralization Waste
streams rich in hardness ions as from de-ionization processes can readily lose the hardness ions in
a buildup of precipitated calcium and magnesium salts. This precipitation process can cause
severe furring of pipes and can, in extreme cases, because the blockage of disposal pipes. A 1-
metre diameter industrial marine discharge pipe serving a major chemicals complex was blocked
by such salts in the 1970s. Treatment is by concentration of de-ionization waste waters and
disposal to landfill or by careful pH management of the released wastewater.
