Globalization

I made my infographic as simple as possible. I chose the color blue as background

because based on what I’ve read, blue is best used for learning and it helps to improve reading
comprehension. I inserted two vector photo showing globalization and added two circles in the
corners as representation of the spherical shape of the globe. I divided my work into three parts.
The first part shows the meaning of globalization. In the past, countries were economically self-
sufficient as their locally produced products are only of the consumptions of their people. But
today, as what Connor (2014) stated, most countries are interconnected and form part of a single,
interdependent global economy. The second part states the causes and effects of Globalization.
There five causes which are: (1) improved telecommunications where there’s a development in
the communication technology such as satellite TV channels, mobile phones, interne, etc.; (2)
improved transportation facilities where air transport and bulk shipping are being processed for
the easy movement of goods; (3) increased in free trade agreements as globalization promotes
free trade for their wealth; (4) increase of multinational corporations such as McDonalds and
Microsoft; and (5) global banking that allow vast amounts of capital to flow around the world.
There are also six effects that were stated: (1) worldwide division of labor where Multinational
Corporations manufacture in the developing countries; (2) change in supply chains where you
can buy any food without being tied to its season; (3) cultural impact as our world becomes
unified and websites connect people, diverse cultures are being ignored; (4) environmental
damage such as climate change that is a serious threat to our mother Earth; (5) less job security
because global economy jobs have become more short term; and (6) increase of anti-
globalisation protests as there are negative impacts of globalization, people supports each other
in business through public protests. Lastly, the third part shows the two effects of globalization
to communication that was stated on the file, the increase in intercultural communication that is a
challenge for many people as cultural diversity increases the possibility of miscommunication,
and the rise of world Englishes where each country have their own variety of English and
challenge the intercultural communication in their verbal and non-verbal facets of language.
Documentary

The Atom Araullo Specials: Saving Paradise

The documentary film that was aired on March 30, 2019 in “Atom Araullo Specials”
where he travels to three of our country’s known tourist sites and look at the current state of the
paradise of the Pearl of the Orient Sea. The production’s goal is to film the rehabilitation of
Manila Bay, Boracay and Coron as these rehabilitations are the way to save, restore and protect
our own paradise.

Philippines is blessed with astonishing archipelago. Atom Araullo and his team really did
their best not just for sake of their production but also to open the eyes of every viewer.
Rehabiliting our tourist destinations will not go this far if we are disciplined enough. We must
start it from ourselves. How much more damage will our nature need to endure? We must act.
We must be responsible to build toward conservation, sustainability and protection of our
paradise. We must develop ourselves as we develop our livelihood, economy and biodiversity.
