Rules & Regulations

 All university students are allowed to participate in this competition.
 Title of the debate will be given in advance and for the Final round the title will be
given on the day of the competition.
 Advocacy team and the opposition team will be announced in advance. It will be selected
based on the draws that will be done on the day of competition.
 Each team must consist of 4 participants. Male and Female can be mixed Three of them
as speakers and one will be substitute.
 First debater will be given 6 minutes to present his/her argument while second and the
third debater will be given 5 minutes.
 For the first debater, at the 4th minute the first bell will be ring once and the second bell will
ring twice at the 6th minute.
 For the second and third debater, at the 4th minute the first bell will ring once and the second
bell will be ring twice at the 5th minute.
 First debater will be given 2 minutes to discuss the overall conclusion. The marks will be
given for the best conclusion.
 Arguments after the final bell will not be taken into count by the judges.
 If there are two teams from the same university competing in the first round, this will be
avoided. However, for other rounds it is possible to compete together even from the same
university.
 Debaters are allowed to submit valid evidence to strengthen their arguments. (Examples
Newspaper cuttings, phone,etc)
 The participants from each university are advised to prepare in both support speech and rebuttal
speech of the specific topic.
 The winning team will automatically qualified for the next round.
 Debaters are not allowed to offend any party either directly or indirectly.
 The judge's decision is final and conclusive.
 Groups that oppose the decision of the judges will be eliminated from the competition.
 The organizers have the right to eliminate any group that violates the rules as stated above.
 The distribution of the marks is as placed below.
 Participants are required to be dressed in proper traditional attire.
 Each team are required to pay RM80 as registration fees and the amount is strictly non-
refundable.
 Title of debate will be given to teams after payment of registration has been made.
 All prizes are non-transferable and non-exchangeable to cash.
 Board Members will not be liable for any losses, damages, or injuries before, during
or after event.
