CONDUCTING A BUSINESS IMPACT ANALYSIS AS
PART OF BUSINESS CONTINUITY MANAGEMENT
OVERVIEW
The Covid-19 pandemic is causing mega-scale disruptions to businesses and societies, most of which are working to regroup,
re-strategise, and execute. Adding to the disruptions is another uncontrolled variable – the time taken until business recovers.
Many will contend that businesses will not be usual anymore due to structural changes inflicted by the coronavirus, and the next
denominator that people will reach for is the issue of “sustainability”. For many organisations, business growth strategies has to be
redesigned to be one about business sustainability. But internal auditors are encouraged to keep growing by examining and adding
value to business continuity management practices in organisations and be at the forefronts of business recoveries, and preparing
organisations adequately to face future turbulences.
OUTLINE
• Addressing impact on organisational revenue, expenses, assets, and liabilities.
• Example of various disruptive events and probable/possible impact.
• Identifying critical business processes that requires mitigation and recovery.

CYBER SECURITY IN A REMOTE WORKING
ENVIRONMENT
OVERVIEW
In the wake of the COVID-19 crisis, much of the workforce has opted to working remotely, with many workers operating out of
makeshift “offices” they created in their homes with little or no warning. This unexpected and abrupt move in these workforces,
without much training on preventative cyber-hack measures, can thus expose individuals and organizations to various cyber threats
that would hamper services and expose / destroy vital data. Cyber criminals are continuously looking to exploit the weakest link
within IT infrastructures to exploit data and information held by organizations. The viability with Internet of Things (IoT) and the Dark
Web has given the upper hand to cyber criminals in its route from strategic exploitation to monetization.
The session aims to address the need for cybersecurity and its objective towards ensuring confidentiality, integrity and availability
of vital data and services. The facilitator willdiscuss the anatomy of cyber-attacks and current threat vectors which both individuals
and organizations would need to take into consideration when setting up controls and threat detection mechanisms. Following that
would be an outline of tips for individuals and organizations to cope with the change that comes with remote arrangements.
OUTLINE
Session 1 Session 2
• Anatomy of cyber attacks • How to protect yourself?
• The cyber-attack threat vector • How to protect your organization?
• The costs of negligence and non-compliance
