PROGRAM STANDARD The learner demonstrates understanding of a foreign language for basic inter-cultural communication in pursuit of a career or higher
education in response to the demands of the 21 st century.

GRADE LEVEL STANDARD The learner demonstrates understanding of a foreign language and its culture through interpretation of and by interpreting written and
spoken language on a variety of topics.

CONTENT STANDARD LISTENING:


The learner shows recognition of familiar words and very basic phrases used in talking about various topics in different conversational
contexts when people speak slowly and clearly.
SPEAKING:
The learner demonstrates ability to interact in a simple way, formulates simple sentences, asks and answers simple questions in areas

contexts.

magazines, webpages, maps, letters, menu, graphs, posters, and signage.
WRITING:
The learner demonstrates understanding of different formats to write for a variety of audiences and purposes.
