Philosophy
The key words in describing what is acceptable as school clothing are MODESTY, NEATNESS, and IDENTIFICATION.
Dressing appropriately is a part of the disciplined life that God desires of each of us.
God desires for His children to dress modestly. I Timothy 2:9 speaks directly to the need for modest apparel for
both males and females. Because the purpose of dress is to clothe rather than to expose, attention must be given
to the cut and fit of the outfit chosen. Students should focus on those styles of dress that are modest and
conservative.
Similarly, we should dress neatly. The Word of God describes us as examples, as lights that shine in a dark world so
that men might be challenged to glorify God. I Samuel 16:7 states that “man looketh on the outward appearance,
but God looketh on the heart.” As such, CCS students are expected to honor God by maintaining a neat,
conservative, clean, and healthy appearance.
The Word of God has much to say about our identification. Proverbs 4:23 commands the Christian to “keep [his]
heart with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life." No single area says as much about us and our associations
as the area of dress. Romans 12:2 tells us not to be "conformed to this world but to be transformed." It is clear that
Christians must avoid the temptation to look and act like the world in the area of dress. The principle of avoiding
the appearance of evil can be applied to dress styles that are patterned after ungodly groups and individuals.
Because CCS students are being trained to be spiritual leaders in the world in which we live, standards of modesty,
neatness, and identification will be applied to both dress and hair styles for both males and females in the student
body.
In addition, the CCS dress code is not just about how students look; it is about how students behave, achieve, and
unify. Proper attire is the first step in creating a classroom environment that enables students to develop a sharp
focus on instruction and learning, rather than on fashion and fads.
School Uniforms
Parents are responsible to purchase all school uniforms from the official CCS Uniform & Spirit Wear Store at
ccsindy.org. Students are to be dressed in approved school attire purchased from the CCS Store from the first day
of the school year until graduation, from morning drop-off until afternoon pickup. It is the parent’s responsibility
to make certain that uniforms comply with CCS modesty guidelines at all times.
Non-Compliance
If a student’s attire displays an overt violation of these expectations/guidelines, the administration (or those
appointed by the administration) reserves the right to ask a student to wait in the school office while the parent is
contacted to bring the required clothing items for the student to wear.
Disclaimer
CCS is not liable for any lost revenue caused by a parent’s failure to follow the dress guidelines when making
uniform purchases. CCS also reserves the right to make minor adjustments to dress guidelines throughout the
school year as necessary to maintain the clarity, simplicity, and unity that is desired for our students in this area.
Any adjustments will be announced in a timely fashion so that parents and students have adequate notice to make
adjustments before updates take effect. Students are responsible to comply with current guidelines at all times.
