MY LANGUAGE BIOGRAPHY

Joy Lyn Andrino Multo, 19 years old, is studying in T.I.P Quezon

City. I am currently taking Bachelor of Science and Electrical
engineering. This is my language biography; it tells a story on how I
know and learned my language, from my mother tongue or first
language to the second language that I know today and I continue
learning every day.

Right now I can speak (4) four languages, these languages are Filipino, Bicol, Bisaya, and English.
My parents belong to Bicol and bisaya speech community, but I didn’t acquire my first language in Bicol or
bisaya, because they moved here in manila when they were teenagers and needed more income. That’s
why my first language is Filipino. The skills I can perform using my first language which is Filipino, I can
speak, write poem, can sing, and can debate using it. The second languages that I know are Bicol, Bisaya
and English. I learned my second language mostly to my parents especially Bicol and Bisaya, because they
are usually using their language when they were talking to their relatives, and sometimes my mother
speaking nonstop in Bisaya when she was so angry to us and my siblings for being so naughty and
immature. And when I was living with my grandmother who is a Bicol she keeps on talking to me and my
cousins in Bicol and sometimes I couldn’t understand and would ask my aunt to translate it. In my second
language I can speak and understand a little using Bicol and Bisaya language, because sometimes I like to
hear my parent talking and it’s enjoyable and fun with their facial expression on it. My language strength is
my ability to learn, speak and write in a good manner. My language weaknesses is I have a very poor
confidence when speaking and writing English and sometimes I can’t understand the book I was reading
especially when it gets exciting because of too much deep words that describe it. At this moment my
favorite language is Filipino, because this is the limit of my world where I was belong, and I can more freely
express my thoughts and words using this language to people, more interaction to them. As using this
language I can have great advantage, and this is my identity as a Pilipino, and this is where my family and
love ones unite.
