LEADERSHIP CHARACTERITICS IN DIFFERENT FIELD 2

Introduction

Different leadership positions call for different characteristics so that they can effectively

lead their subjects. They can have similar characteristics for all of them, but there are times they

have differences based on their subjects. All the leaders have the vision and purpose of

accomplishing various tasks as they lead. Teachers, assistant coaches, and ministers are all

leaders, and despite them having similar characteristics, they have numerous varying

characteristics given the various individuals they lead who are different are in a different set up

together.

The three types of leaders ought to have proper communication skills because they need

to address those they lead effectively. They also need to have proper decision-making

capabilities as they lead. They also have to illustrate a high level of confidence to those they lead

so that they can be effectively listened to and followed. They also need to illustrate creativity,

innovativeness, and emotional intelligence as they lead so that they can effectively dispatch their

leadership mandate. All these leaders have to prepare every session with ideas.

Teachers have to illustrate to the student’s different concepts, analogies, and details as

they illustrate to the students in a way that has clarity, an organization with an analytic and

systematic approach. Notably, the students usually have no idea on the subject matter, and they

first need to be taken step by step for them to understand. Coaches and ministers have their

audience knowing what is required of them and are, in most cases stressing on ideas they know.

Ministers have first to be servant leaders as compared to teachers and coaches. Being a servant

worker, ministers can perform despised tasks for their audience and perform tasks in secret,

expecting no rewards and loud applause because they are working for the Lord. On the other

hand, teachers and assistant coaches perform their tasks in the limelight expecting to be given

loud applause and rewards. The ministers work for God and teach, and do it so that their

audience can know the word of God.

Assistant coaches and teachers single out strengths and weaknesses of those they lead and

work hard to address them as compared to ministers who do not classify weaknesses and

strengths. The main aim of singling out these characteristics is to bring about success and

desirable results. The teachers want the students to excel in classwork and become

knowledgeable, and the assistant coach wants the athletes to perform well in sports competitions.

The different leaders have to be first self-aware if they can serve the mandate they have to their

audience effectively before they start engaging in other leadership processes.

Some ethical issues and challenges can be experienced by these leaders when they

prioritize. One of them is having a leader who is afraid and cannot properly address and

articulate their leadership plan effectively. Generally, this makes the audience have little

confidence in their leadership, and this can have an adverse effect on their performance.

Therefore, a leader should effectively work on their confidence level and discredit the fear they

can have so that they can have an appropriate leadership style for the ones they lead.

When the teachers and assistant coaches categorize the ones they lead to have strengths

and weaknesses, they tend to leave the ones who are seen as to have weaknesses and give more

attention to those that are felt to have more strength. Generally, this can make them not have

justice and fairness as they rule, and it can pose a challenge when they are leading. Also, this can

discourage those that are felt to have weaker capabilities, and it is not ethical to categorize them

because a leader would be creating a rift in the audience. It is advisable to work with them as a

group without necessarily having to categorize them. For the ministers, they should be ethical

and lead by example to the congregation. They should not preach water and take wine. They

should be servant leaders and should do as they preach about the word of God and should not go

contrary to what they preach and urge their congregation.

There are unique characteristics among these leaders, which are measurable. One of them

is that they should respect their followers at any time so that they can effectively rule their

followers effectively and have desirable results. The teachers should be respectful to their

subjects, but when they commit a wrong, they should punish their students so that they can

correct them. Assistant coaches should also punish the athletes too so that outstanding

performance can be realized. For ministers in case of wrongdoing, they cannot punish the

congregant. They can only offer guidance and talks aimed at correcting, and they do it to the end,

taking no further measures. Teachers and assistant coaches should give morale to their followers

so that they can make them interested in what they tell them to do or what they teach. Notably,

this enhances the performance of their followers.
