Theory Of Knowledge Exhibition

The TOK prompt that I chose is: "Can new knowledge change establish values or beliefs?". The

exhibition explores the selected prompt by reflecting on knowledge and how it could change

values and beliefs when people find new knowledge. People's values and beliefs could change if

they gain further knowledge from different sources. For example, in our modern society, art has

an essential part in influencing how we think and see the world around us. They provide

information about world events as well as people's opinions. Examples of media that could

influence our beliefs and values include the poem, The Beauty of A Woman, by Audrey

Hepburn, the movie called Legally Blonde, and the song, "Man in the mirror," by Michael

Jackson.

The poem tells the readers that women's beauty is not defined in their features or outfits in

relation to the examples mentioned and world context. It encourages readers not to

underestimate women because their looks and women feel confident, thus gaining knowledge.

The movie is one of my personal favorites. It motivates me never to change who I am,

regardless of what people say. At its core, the film challenges female stereotypes and sexism

and inspires women to achieve their dreams while being feminine. The song is about the need

to make differences in the world. I always listen to this song, and it is one of my favorites.
Object 1. A poem - The Beauty Of A Woman by Audrey Hepburn.

The Beauty of A Woman by Audrey Hepburn is an inspirational poem highlighting that women's

beauty is not defined by physical attributes, such as clothes and makeup, but personality. The

poem changes the belief that beauty is not necessarily defined by women's faces, bodies, or

clothes. Real beauty is reflected in a person's personality. The message carried out in this poem

inspired me because the message it delivers is empowering to women who often get misjudged

or underestimated by what they wear in society.

This poem is particularly interesting for this exhibition due to the fact that this could change

people's beliefs. Because nowadays, people believe that if a woman who doesn't do makeup or

dressed nicely is not beautiful. This poem helped by realizing that I am beautiful, and I should

never listen to other people and being insecure about who I am and how I dress. Though, this
poem is trying to deliver complementary messages to the women community that they should

not have to care or think about what people say about them. Men can also gain new knowledge

though they should not underestimate women based on their clothes or features. This poem

could change their beliefs towards the real beauty of women. Could change their values by they

will treat women in the future.

In this way, this poem is both a meaningful way to store and disseminate positive knowledge of

content but also to share procedural expertise that the author has acquired through decades of

experience.

Object 2. Film - “Legally Blonde” (2001)

This object is a movie that I used to watch because it is fascinating and has morals.
The main protagonist character of the movie is Elle Woods. She is a woman who always kind to

everyone, even to those who are awful to her. She is not a pushover, and she never changed

who she was to get to the top. However, Legally Blonde is a film that challenges stereotypes

and sexism and inspires women to put theirs all into their dreams. Elle has always seen the best

in people and has always been willing to be open about them. Such as where Vivian's scene

tells Elle to wear a costume for the party, everybody is there wearing regular clothes. She goes

to Warner for comfort, but all he does is tell her she's not smart enough to get an internship

from Callahan. Her motivation to achieve is ignited again. She starts to get things right in class.

People's beliefs are a person who wears excessive clothes are "stupid." This movie changing

people's beliefs and values by seeing that wearing anything we want, whether exaggerated or

not, does not make us seem stupid. Also, being on top does not have to change our

personalities or ourselves.

Object 3. Song - “Man In The Mirror” by Michael Jackson.

The song "Man In The Mirror" was sung by Michael Jackson in 1988. This song is one of my

personal favorites, which the song always gives me a positive feeling. It is an inspirational song

about personal redemption and positively impacts the world. The song gives us a positive

message that not only is it possible to change the world, but we as individuals can also do it - as

from the lyrics itself, "I am going to make a change." The meaning behind the song's title has a

deeper meaning than just a man in the mirror - it means to make differences from ourselves

first, then make a difference in the outside world. The song's lyrics can also be seen - "I'm

starting with the man in the mirror."

This song is of great interest to this exhibition because people could change their perspective

towards the world that needs help and may change the world by their acts and delivering a

positive message to society.

In conclusion, these poems, films, and the song act as evidence that new knowledge can change

people's values or beliefs from a different perspective. The poem's fundamental idea is that we

do not feel insecure about our physical appearances as a woman. However, the real beauty

comes from souls. The legally blonde movie delivered a message where people don't have to

change their identity to achieve their goals. Man in the mirror challenges us to change our mind

and see the state of the real world. People's beliefs are different. These sources deliver

complimentary messages and which could be people's motivation to be better.
