ABSTRACT

This project is a design of a sports center with Smart Bricks for wall addressed at
Barangay Sieta, Lipa City, Batangas in the fulfillment of the course requirements in Civil
Engineering Project.

Nowadays, there is a need for sports center especially in the urban areas like Brgy
Siete, Lipa City, Batangas. The main concept for the Smart Bricks for wall is to have
light weight than traditional walling material and to have excellent thermal and sound
insulation of a green building. The study also aims to provide material, labor, and other
cost estimation. Moreover, the architectural design presented in this research was made
by the proponents using AutoCad 2019 and STAAD PRO and SketchUP Pro 2018. By
following the standards stated in National Structural Code of the Philippines 2015
(NSCP) and National Building Code of the Philippines (NBCP) with the aid of software
modeling tools, STAAD Pro V8i and STAAD Reinforced Concrete Designer (RCDC),
the researchers are able to provide a complete and detailed plan for structural members
such as footing, columns, beams, floor, and roof slabs. Aside from analyzing structural
integrity of the design structure using software, this study also aims to present the use of
Smart Bricks replacement for the concrete hollow block; it has opened up one more
chapter on the advancement of concrete technology.

The total cost of the project before completion using Smart Brick is Php
***********. The researchers conclude that Smart Brick is more cost-effective than
using the concrete hollow blocks and the duration is faster compared to the conventional.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The researchers would like to express deepest gratitude to the people who
contributed to the fulfillment of this research design paper. The proponents are thanking
the following who made this research possible:

Above all the proponents would like to express their deepest gratitude to the
Almighty Father for everything would not have been possible if He did not plan it to
happen. He is the source of knowledge and strength.

To the dearest parents of the researchers for the unending support and for serving
them as their inspiration to succeed in this study.

To this institution, Lyceum of the Philippines University – Laguna for providing

them quality and better education that molds them to excel in doing this study.

To Engr. Glenn Christopher J. Lambino, the technical adviser, for the guidance,
patience, knowledge, and insights. In terms of the technicality of the design, he helped
the researchers to understand all the terms in Civil Engineering profession.

The researchers also would like to thank their Civil Engineering Project professor,
Dr. Ricardo M. Bobadilla for guiding and checking the work of the researchers.

To the researchers’ classmates who shared their own findings and ideas, the
researchers cannot thank you enough.

Gratitude to all and may God bless us all.
