Ans-1 Himadri is the highest range of the Himalayas.
a) All the high peaks of the Himalayas are found in this region.
Examples- Mount Everest , Kanchenjunga, Annapurna
,Nanda Devi etc.
b) This region is always covered with snow.
c) Many rivers like the Jhelum , the Ganga and the Yamuna
originate from the glaciers of this region.
Q-2 How do the Himalayan mountains protect our
country ?
Ans-2 The Himalayan mountains protect our country in the
following ways-:
a) They form a natural wall to the north of our country .It is
difficult for an enemy to cross these mountains.
b) They protect us from the cold winds blowing from the north.
Q-3 How do the Himalayan mountains useful to us?
Ans-3 The Himalayan mountains are useful to us in the following
ways-:
a) They check the monsoon winds and cause heavy rainfall.
b) The forests provide us with wood and other useful forest
products like honey, resin ,gum etc.
c) The forests in the Himalayas give shelter to many wild
animals and birds.
d) The melting snow provides water to the northern rivers.
Q-4 Why do Kashmiris use kangri ?
Ans-4 a) The climate of Kashmir is very cold. Kashmiris keep
kangri under their clothes to keep themselves warm.
b) It is a small pot with burning coal in it.
