Description

Play is vital for the holistic development of one person. It is important to build and to
develop during the formative years. Different teaching strategies are anchored with the
idea of play. A strong background in this field can be used for instruction and
assessment. Thus, teachers should always implement it in their classrooms. Yet, the
concept of play may look simple but it is complex as you go over the studies.

This course is designed to help teachers fully understand the concept of play and the
role of the environment in it. It also guides them to have a proper implementation of the
complex concept of play, with the help of the best practices.

Objectives

At the end of the course, the participants are expected to:

 define play-based learning;
 identify different characteristics of play-based learning;
 correct the misconceptions of play in learning;
 identify the importance of physical environment in play-based learning;
 identify different developmental theories on play;
 determine the importance of play in early stage; and
 identify some of the best practices of play.
