CONTENT LEARNING OBJECTIVES
 Parts of the Lesson Plan At the end of this course material, you will…
 Different Types of Instructional or Lesson Plan  identify the different parts of a lesson plan;
According to Various Formats  make a detailed lesson plan and daily log plan; and
 Teaching Demonstration  demonstrate a lesson asynchronously of your
area of specialization.

ENGAGE
This course material discusses the different parts of the lesson plans and how to construct those plans. The
discussion is anchored on the existing DepEd Order and other authority pertaining to instructional planning which
can help the future teachers when the time comes that they will teacher either in private or public schools. For
further understanding of the students, sample lesson plans are provided.

Based on the given sample lesson plan, identify the objectives, subject matter, procedure, assessment, and
assignment. Write your answer on the space provided.

Introductory Activity:
*Picture analysis (Picture of different events)
*Guide questions:
1. What were the activities/events you participated a week ago?
2. Share your experiences (big group sharing)
Analysis:
1. How many healthy activities have you done the whole day? Do you think they are
enough for you to be considered an active teenager?
2. What do you think should you do with your leisure hours to maximize your
physical activities?
3. Do you think that the activities you have for the day can improve your health and
make you physically active?
Abstraction:
The term “physical activity” should not be mistaken with “exercise”. Exercise is a
sub-category of physical activity that is planned, structured, repetitive, and purposeful in
the sense that the improvement or maintenance of one or more components of physical
fitness is the objective. Physical activity includes exercise, as well as other activities in
which involve bodily movement and are done as part of planning, working, active
transportation, house chores and recreational activities. Due to the rising technological
advancement in our country, the physical activities of teenagers have become limited and
are often neglected. Motivation and involvement is needed for them to be active.
Teenagers may also join groups like community youth clubs, such as scouting,
which will keep them physically active while getting new knowledge or learning new skills.
This groups often do lots of physical activities be it indoor or outdoor. They are good
training grounds for future leaders, particularly in developing responsible young adults as
they motivate them to have the initiative to do and finish tasks.
Application:
*Where do I belong?
Directions: In the box below is a list of different physical activities. Instruct the students to
classify; the activities whether it is moderate activity or vigorous activity. Write the
activities in the appropriate column on the table.

*Physical Activity Benefits

Directions: Below are jumbled letters/words of the different values they can get from getting
enough physical activity and the conditions that they are at risk of when they have an inactive
lifestyle. Ask the students to re arrange the letters to form the correct word and tell them to put
them on the corresponding table where they belong.

LESSON PLANNING
By: Department of Education
Source: DepEd Order No. 42, s.2016
According to Airasian (1994), the instructional process is made up of three (3) steps:
1. Planning instruction;
2. Delivery of instruction; and
3. Assessment of learning
This means that teaching begins even before a teacher steps in front of a class and begins lesson. This also
means that teachers are expected to be able to organize and develop a plan for teaching, implement that plan, and
measure how effectively they implemented a plan.
What is Lesson planning?
Lesson planning is one way of planning instruction. Lesson planning is a way of visualizing a lesson before it
is taught. According to Scrivener (2005), planning a lesson entails “prediction, anticipation, sequencing and
simplifying.” Lesson planning is a critical part of the teaching and learning process.

What is the objective of the Lesson planning?

The objective of Lesson planning is learning. Lesson planning helps teachers set learning targets for
learners. It also helps teachers guarantee that learners reach those targets. By planning lessons, teachers are able
to see to it that daily activities inside the classroom lead to learner progress and achievement or the attainment of
learning outcomes.

Definition of Terms:

 Instruction refers to the methods and processes used to direct learning.

 Instructional planning is the process of systematically planning, developing, evaluating, and managing
the instructional process by using principles of teaching and learning.
 Daily Lesson Log (DLL) is a template teacher’s use to log parts of their daily lesson. The DLL covers a
day’s or a week’s worth of lessons, and contains the following parts: Objective, Content, Learning
Resources, Procedures, Remarks, and Reflection.
 Detailed Lesson Plan (DLP) is a teacher’s “roadmap” for a lesson. It contains a detailed description of the
steps a teacher will take to teach a particular topic. A typical DLP contains the following parts: :
Objective, Content, Learning Resources, Procedures, Remarks, and Reflection

LEARNER- CENTERED LESSON PLAN

By: Lorren Piňera
Source: Piňera, L. (2013). Types of Lesson Plan. shorturl.at/noEX

Parts of the Lesson Plan

There are five parts of detailed and semi- detailed lesson plans:
1. Objectives The first thing a teacher does is create an objective, a statement of purpose for the whole
lesson. An objective statement itself should answer what students will be able to do by the
end of the lesson.

The objective drives the whole lesson, it is the reason the lesson exists. Care is taken when
creating the objective for each day’s lesson, as it will determine the activities the students
engage in.
2. Subject matter Subject matter or specific topic includes sources of information, e.g., textbooks and library
references. The subject matter includes the following:
 Topic – particular lesson
 Reference/s – usually from the book and internet websites.
 Materials – refer to objects or tools that serve as instructional aids for particular
subject.

THIS MATERIAL IS FOR EDUCATIONAL USE ONLY AND NOT FOR SALE. Page 3 of 11
3. Procedure The procedure is the body of your lesson plan, the ways in which you will share
information with students and the methods you'll use to help them assume a measure of
mastery of that material.
 In detailed lesson plan, the expected routines, lesson proper, activities are
presented. Questions and answers are written.
 In semi-detailed lesson plan has only contains procedures or steps to be used in
the lesson proper.

4. Evaluation It can take the form of formative test consisting of a 10-item multiple choice questions
after the day’s lesson to determine the mastery of learning, e.g., 95% of the class got 100%
correct answers.
5. Assignment It includes questions, exercises, and/or a set of practice specified by the teacher. In order
to succeed in discussing the assignment for the following day, a teacher give
focused/specific questions for students to answer.
