IV SEMESTER B. TECH (ELECTRONICS & COMMUNICATION ENGG.

)
IN SEMESTER EXAMINATION – II, JUNE 2020
SUBJECT: DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING (ECE 2255)
REVISED CREDIT SYSTEM
Time: 90 Minutes MAX. MARKS: 15

Note: Answer ALL the questions.

1. Draw the typical frequency response (magnitude plots) of Nth order Butterworth and Chebyshev 02
type-1 low pass filters (Assume N=odd). Indicate clearly the specifications of the filter in the plots.

2. With mathematical relations and illustrative diagrams, describe the frequency warping effect and 02
its compensation in case of bilinear transformation method of digitizing analog filters.

3. With reference to designing FIR filters using window, illustrate with suitable spectral plots, the 02
effect of tapering the window function on the frequency response of designed filter.

4. Obtain the system function H(z) using impulse invariant transformation method corresponding to 03
second order analog Butterworth prototype filter. (Analog LPF with Ωc = 1 rad/sec). Assume 1Hz
sampling.

5. Certain 7-length linear phase FIR filter has two of the zeroes of its system function located at z1= 03
0.25 and z2= 0.5ej2π/3. Determine the other zeroes and write the corresponding system function
H(z).

6. Using non-recursive frequency sampling design method, obtain the filter coefficients for 5-length 03
ideal linear phase FIR low pass filter with cut-off frequency π/2 radians.
