This delivery release is to address bugs found in the recent firmware release to support the
rechargeable communications module. The following products are released for delivery:

Siemens recommends updating to the latest firmware to ensure the most reliable/consistent
performance of the Fusesaver.

3 Description
The firmware versions listed in this delivery release contain bug fixes. The new versions are
available via the SOS-DMC Data Management Cloud or via direct request from OMVS as
per the contact details listed at the end of this notice. This release includes the following:

NOTE: Siemens have now standardised our Firmware Labelling & Numbering in policy KMS-
0053 with the following structure:
<Type><Major Revision><Minor Revision><Maintenance / Service Packs>, where:
∂ <Type> = “FW” (Firmware) or “SW” (Software)
∂ <Major Revision> = single digit (1 – 9)
∂ <Minor Revision> = single digit (0 – 9)
∂ <Maintenance / Service Packs> = double digit (00 – 99)
All new firmware and software releases will be identified as major, minor or maintenance
releases and be numbered according to this system.

4 Updates
4.1 Fusesaver Firmware FW1401
The firmware updater application for V401 firmware has a bug that may (<10% of the time)
cause the VI Life and/or Trip Counter to reset (to zero) when updating the firmware from an
earlier version. This bug only poses a risk during the firmware update process. The
underlying V401 firmware loaded onto the Fusesaver is sound.
This new firmware release addresses the bug in the updater and brings the Fusesaver
firmware numbering into alignment with Siemens new policy KMS-0053. Firmware FW1401
is otherwise functionally equivalent to V401-80.
V401 has been removed from the SOS-DMC and is withdrawn for use. It is recommended to
isolate and archive, or delete permanently, any V401 updater.

4.2 Comms Module Firmware FW1601

The pseudo-three phase trip and synchronous reclose function has a vulnerability in how it
handles corrupted message rejection which may result in unexpected operation. Whilst the
probability of occurrence is exceptionally low, this vulnerability has been addressed in this
firmware release.
This new firmware update FW1601 is functionally equivalent to V1600-80.

4.3 Siemens Connect Software SW4010

The method by which Siemens Connect PC application downloads event data over ANT
radio communication has been made more reliable.

5 Compatibility
The following compatibility issues are valid:
∂ The Fusesaver firmware version in this release is compatible with all earlier versions
of the Fusesaver hardware. Some limitations of the newly added functionality may
occur with older hardware platforms.
∂ The Communications Module firmware in this release is not compatible with
Fusesaver firmware prior to V401-80
∂ The Fusesaver and Communications Module firmware versions in this release are
not compatible with versions of Siemens Connect prior to V4.0.0.5
∂ The Fusesaver and Communications Module firmware versions in this release are
not compatible with versions of RCU firmware prior to V131
∂ The Fusesaver and Communications Module firmware versions in this release are
compatible with all previously created policy files.
