The site is located at KUPONDOLE along the BAGMATI RIVER.
• North side: THAPATHALI DURBAR ,KALMOCHAN MAHADEV TEMPLE,TRIPURA MARG.
• East side: TEKU BAGMATI BRIDGE form where the site is clearly visible.
• West side: BAGMATI TRIPURESWOR BRIDGE.
• South side: Commercial area with some institutions (Advanced College of engineering & management,
Kathmandu institute of hospital Management), PARK LN road.

CONCEPT AND DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
At the initial stage, an exhaustive monitoring of the site was carried out. After analyzing the site
context, a concept was developed based on three main points, as shown in the figure (initial
zoning). The zoning was done so that the noisy area and the peaceful area were separated using a
buffer, which we call the transition area. The concept was defined as the play on the axis focusing
the main center attraction in the transition area. A visual axis is defined along the site. Water
elements are used as a buffer between transitional zone and quiet zone. An additional definition
of the space in the zoning was made as the in the figure (zoning as it is used). Each space was

The main aim was to create a space merging the softscapes and
hardscapes. Amidst the chaos and crowd, a relaxing space was
created that is suitable for all age groups. Play areas were given
focusing the children. Gathering spaces were given focusing the
youths and relaxing space is given focusing the old generation.
Yoga spaces, walking spaces were created encouraging people to
use the space in the morning and evening ambiance is created for
them to make the place livable even during the night time.
