Author & Thought Leader - Cara co-authored the book What’s Next in HR in 2015 with several
industry leaders, then she wrote The Millennial Mindset. Her newest employee retention-focused
book, Staying Power: Why Your Employees Leave & How to Keep Them Longer, was launched
in March 2018.  
Community Involvement - Cara served as the 2016 President for the Association for Talent
Development (ATD) Kentuckiana Chapter and is the 2017-2018 President for the National
Speakers Association (NSA) Kentucky Chapter. She is also a Founding Member for the
University of Louisville MBA Alumni Network, and was the Executive Committee Treasurer for two
years. She is also an active member of the Young Professionals Association of Louisville (YPAL),
the Louisville Independent Business Alliance (LIBA), and Louisville Society for HR Managers
(SHRM).

A quick reference to the first 4 minutes and some follow-up questions to think
about:

-Cara draws a comparison between the buyer and seller market in real estate and the
employment market. Why?

-She claims that we have transitioned over an employees´ market. They have the upper
hand2 now. Why?

- She introduces three workforce categories: babyboomers (51-70), GenXers (37-50) and
Millennials (16-36). Make as many notes as possible about each.

-She is concerned with the question: what is your mindset3? – What does she have in
mind while addressing such question?

-She says the issues on the table (up for discussion) are: technology, authority, balance,
loyalty, entitlement. How can these relate to staff turnover?

Homework: watch the whole video and write a summary of the main issues the speaker
addresses between 250/300 words.
