PURPOSE OF MEDICATION

Contraction of Uterus Control of postpartum hemorrhage that has
not responded to conventional therapy

Dizziness, headache, wheezing, N/V/D, abdominal pain, IM - 100 mcg
cramps, uterine rupture, flushing of skin, anaphylaxis,
angioedema

Contraindications/Precautions
Hypersensitivity, acute PID, active pulmonary, renal or hepatic disease

Caution use in uterie scarring, asthma, hypotension, hypertension, Nursing Interventions


cardiac disease, anemia, haundice, DM or epilepsy
Moniter for signs and symptoms
of anaphylaxis

Assess for N/V and diarrhea.
