PHOTOCOPIABLE ACTIVITIES

PRESENT SIMPLE: QUESTIONS

1D CLASS SURVEY
CHOICES

Use after: Module 1 Grammar

Interaction: mingling exercise
Time: about 20 minutes
Materials: one photocopy for every pair of students

Instructions:
1 Divide the class into pairs and allocate a Student A and a Student B in each pair.
2 Explain that they are going to do a survey about the school subjects and extra-
curricular activities that the class enjoys.
3 Give out a copy of the resource sheet to each pair, half each. Allow students a few
minutes to read them through.
4 Elicit the questions that they will need to ask. If you think the class will need to refer
back to them, leave them on the board, e.g. How often do you play computer games?
Where do you use technology?
5 Explain that they must go around the class asking their questions to every member and
keep a tally in the chart of how many students choose each option.
6 When they have finished, get whole-class feedback. Ask students about their results.
Which results were the most surprising or interesting?
7 Put students into two groups according to the survey they did and then divide these
groups into pairs. Have each pair draw a bar chart of the results to their questions and
display them on your classroom wall.
