The reserve oil tank for the engine is designed to add more oil capacity to the engine and to
make less frequent servicing of the engine oil. It has two sight glasses, the upper one
indicates a full tank, and the lower one indicates the level required to complete one
operational shift. The circulation of oil between the engine sump and reserve tank increases
the total volume of working oil. This dilutes the effects of contamination and loss of additives
and maintains the oil quality over longer periods. The control unit is used to refill oil reserve
tank. The RED knob is the POWER switch and the BLACK knob is the START switch. The
LED indicator on the left side of the control box tells us that the tank is full (Top Light), and
that the valve is open (Bottom Light).
LED Monitor Light
The pump unit is mounted on the side of the reserve tank, and is equipped with an LED
monitor light on one side.
• Steady - Pump 1 is withdrawing oil from the engine sump and bringing down the oil
level.
• Regular Pulsing - Pump 2 is returning oil to the engine sump and raising the oil level.
• Irregular Pulsing - Oil is on the correct operating level.

light
Key switch on, allow the central warning system to do a self test; all
monitor warning lights, gauges and alarm should sound for
approximately 3 seconds.
Start Up
Turn the key switch to the start position hold until the engine starts.
NOTE: Truck is equipped with an engine pre-lube system. A noticeable
time delay will occur before engine actually cranks.
Do not crank engine for more than 30 seconds, allow starter to cool for
two minutes between start attempts ( the monitoring system will force a
120 second wait and will limit the duration of failed starts to 30 seconds )
After engine has started move rest switch to the off position ( this will
energize the Drive System )

& Aspects
Parking Brake
Will not apply if travel speed is 0.8 kph (0.5 mph) or higher
The engine must be shut down, and the system should always be verified at
rest before opening doors.

Filter Eliminator System

Course Objectives
The Eliminator filter not only eliminates the direct costs of the purchasing and disposing of disposable filters, it eliminates
the time, space, man power and logistics associated with ordering, stocking and keeping the field supplied with enough
filters.
This can be particularly costly when operating at remote sites around the world.
Filter effectiveness:
The Eliminator filter has proven to provide a higher level of oil cleanliness than the standard, full flow w/bypass flow filter
system.
Eliminate possibility of dirt ingress, as occurs when changing disposable filters in the field. Full flow oil system remains
sealed, only the backflush flow to the centrifuge gets opened, this oil always must pass through the filter before going back
to the engine.

NEW R2000DF
In addition to the Reservoir and pump station the Reserve system requires a special Cummins
manufactured sump adaptor to connect the suction and supply lines from the Reserve to the Engine,
note the formed suction pipe which is designed to pull air when the oil level drops below the run
mark.
