COMMUNICATING
WITH STUDENTS
Here are some of my recommendations on different ways to communicate with your
students during lockdown.

TIP #1: Keep in regular contact with your students

Platforms I like to use are Moodle Google Classroom

TIP #2: Make your messages more lively and engaging

Decorate your emails with emojis

- On a MAC
[Cntrl ] + [Cmmnd] + [space bar]

- On Windows
[Windows] + [.] or [Windows] + [;]

Create your own Bitmoji

- download the app on your phone

- take a selfie so the app can suggest the design
that best matches your face
- Once you’re happy with your Bitmoji, go to the sticker
section and type up the keywords for the sticker you’d
like to send

TIP #3: Show your face! I like organising videocalls via:

If your students have - Zoom

high speed connection… - Goo gle Meet

If your students don’t have high speed connection…

- record a video of yourself with a message to them
When they see your face and hear your voice, your students will instantly be more
engaged and will cheer up!

I hope these tips are useful to enhance communication with your students. Let me know
how these tips work for you or share your own ideas with me on Twitter (@usoasol).
