We are soon to experiment online learning. I have come up with a design to facilitate our
online classes that hopefully does not compromise on the level of interaction and feedback
that my students and I enjoy in a physical classroom. As all plans go, this too will not work
fully as intended. We will have to improvise as we go. The design I have come up with will
serve as a starting point for our experiment. I am sharing a few guidelines on how we will
start off. With your support, I am sure we can improvise to get a meaningful learning
experience.
Learning Process
– We learn by discussing
– I will use a combination of talking, whiteboard and interactive presentations to
facilitate the class discussion
– There will be two modes of discussion in our class
▪ Interactive presentations: some of what I share on the screen will be
interactive, meaning, you can share your thoughts which will shape the
slides real-time; how to do that is covered in CP – Take 1; this is purely for
learning
▪ Class participation: We will discuss; covered in CP – Take 2, which is for
learning and grading
– During the class, if you want to ask a question, please click on Raise Hand in
Zoom – that’s when I am not asking for CP contributions (see CP – Take 2 for
raising hand to contribute to CP)
– At the end of every class, there will be a short survey (anonymous) on technical
aspects of the class just concluded; please share your responses
– As has been done for your first-year courses, PGP Office will run surveys on
content and delivery (course and faculty feedback) separately at the end of the
course, and the end-of-class survey will focus only on technical aspects of class
delivery
