Activity Guide and Evaluation Rubric – Task 4 Talking about your job.

1. Activity Description

Type of activity: Collaborative

With this activity, you are expected to achieve the following learning
outcomes:

The student will be able to explain a viewpoint experience about his/her job, linking
phrases with fluency, self-confidence, vocabulary, and pronunciation in a video and in
an oral practice developed with the tutor and partners.
The activity consists of:

An oral practice activity in which the student has to discuss with his/her partners the
answer to the situation about his/her preference job.

Step 1: Practice pronunciation.


Go to the online content, Module 3. Exercise 11. Listen to the audio, and complete
the exercise with the words you find below. Then share your answers in an audio,
NOT screenshots.
To record the complete presentation, not only the words.

Then go to the end of Module 5, to practice the pronunciation of the words ending in

Step 2: Practice with your tutor and partners.


Read the situation presented below and give answer to this.
Organize your ideas in a script, then practice all your answers with your tutor and
partners in a practice session. You can use the organization explained in the annexed
document you find in LEARNING ENVIRONMENT.

Look at the following answers as examples:
-If I could have any job, I think I would like to be an ambassador. I think this
because I enjoy visiting other countries and meeting and interacting with other
people.
-I think the most important job I have had was working at a library. I believe this
because I met many interesting people at this job.

What you have to do to be in a practice session?


To have a practice session with your tutor, you have to register in a Drive document
that your teacher will share with you through the mail. In the practice session, you
will share your opinions in English. This practice session will help you to improve your
pronunciation, and to be more confident for doing the step 3.
Your webcam must be opened.
When you are in the practice session, take your screenshot as evidence.
To carry out a good presentation check the document Appendix 1 - How to do
your oral practice, found in the Learning environment.

Situation: If you could have any job in the world, which job would
you choose, an ambassador, an engineer, a big lawyer, a chef or
any other, explain?, What has been the last job you have had, it
was important for you?

Step 3: Talking about jobs.


After to the practice pronunciation and sharing your opinion in the practice session,
you have to record a video. In this video you will share your answer about the
situation given in step 2, in this step you can explain this clearly, using vocabulary,
and the correct grammatical structure.

Where record the video.


You can record the video with the tool that you decide (cellphone, camera, and
computer) and upload this to Youtube, Vimeo, loom, screencast, or any tool that
allows you to do it, with the purpose to obtain a link.
The video must be between one to two or three minutes. You have to appear in this,
giving your explanation. You must share the link to your video in the forum.

You cannot read in the video, because we are evaluating oral skills in English.
Send the link to your video in the collaborative forum.

Step 4: Self evaluation


After to develop all the steps of the activity, answer the self- evaluation you find as
Appendix 2 – Self evaluation
Then take a screenshot that shows you did this, and add this to the final task.

Step 5: Organize your final task


Add in a Word document the link of your video, besides the screenshots that
evidence your audios and participation in the collaborative forum and your
attendance to the practice session.
The screenshots, your name and picture must be clear.
All the steps must be organized in the template you find as Appendix 3 – Template
for the final task #4 Talking about your job.

For the development of the activity consider that:

In the initial information environment, you must check the agenda out to verify
the opening and closing of the task.

In the learning environment, you must check out and study the online content.
Enter to the forum and participate with your video, besides send the audios giving
answers to the oral practice. You find all the appendixes there.

In the evaluation environment, you must upload a Word document with the
screenshots of evidences of your attendance to the practice session, your audios and
the link of the video required in the guide.

The individual evidence to be submitted is:
The evidence of your participation in the collaborative forum with audios of practice
pronunciation of Module 3. Exercise 11 and practice pronunciation of words ending
in “s”.
The link of the individual video talking about jobs, according to the situation given in
the step 2 and your self-evaluation.

All the steps must be organized in the template you find as Appendix 3 – Template
for the final task #4 Talking about your job.

The collaborative evidence to be submitted is:
Evidence of the oral practice developed with your tutor and partners, discussing
about the situation given in the step 2.

2. General Guidelines for the Development of Evidences to Submit

For Individual evidences, consider the following:


Send the link of your video-Step 2
Evidence of your forum participation.
Evidence of your self-evaluation.

For Collaborative evidences, consider the following:


Evidence of your practical exercise with your tutor and partners.

 All members of the group must participate with their contributions in the
development of the activity.

 Each group must participate.

 Before submitting the requested product, students should check that it meets all
the requirements mentioned in this activity guide.

Please keep in mind that all individual or collaborative written products must comply
with the spelling rules and presentation conditions defined in this activity guide.
Regarding the use of references, consider that the product of this activity must
comply with APA style.
In any case, make sure you comply with the rules and avoid academic plagiarism.
You can review your written products using the Turnitin tool found in the virtual
campus.

Under the Academic Code of Conduct, the actions that infringe the academic order,
among others, are the following: paragraph e) Plagiarism is to present as your own

will be zero (0.0), without any disciplinary measures being derived.
