Interactive Module Outline Template

The purpose of this IM Outline Template is to facilitate the planning process

for your Interactive Module. It is the first step in identifying where your
learners are (in relation to the content they need to learn), where you want
them to be (i.e., the objectives you want them to achieve) and then a draft of
how you are going to get them from where they are to where they need to
be.
Fill out/answer each of the following parts of the template. Even though this
is an initial draft, be as complete as possible with your responses:
I. Learners key questions to consider and address:
Who are your target learners?
What are the primary characteristics of your target learners that you
need to consider for this IM to be successful?
What background information do they already have (or dont have)
that will help you correctly position your IM?
Target learner description:
My target learners are first graders, which means that they are around five to six years
old. Because of their young age, the students may have short attention spans, or may have
difficulty focusing on the lesson. I may need to put extra effort into making this lesson
engaging so that the young students stay invested in learning phonics.
My learners may differ from each other because of their skill level. Some students
may need extra help grasping the concept of phonics, while other students may
understand the lesson right away and grow bored slowing down for the students that need
extra help. I would need to make sure that my students, no matter what skill level are
being challenged by the lesson to create the best learning outcome. I also need to teach to
students that learn best by seeing, doing, or hearing. This means that to help each student
learn to the best of his/her ability, I need to implement different ways of presenting the
lesson to cater to each learner. I also may have students that are mentally or physically
handicapped, which I need to cater towards and possibly give one-on-one instruction.
Because my students are first graders, they will have some background with phonics
from kindergarten. This means that I may need to either review phonics with the class, or
make the lessons a little more challenging so that the students are learning new
information that grows their understanding of phonics from what they previously learned
in school.

II. Objectives key questions to consider and address:

What do you want your learners to be able to do?
What is the final outcome performance(s), conditions, and criteria that
you want your learners to achieve?
List your IM objectives (include performance, conditions, and criteria):
When given 10 words containing different phonemes within the
online phonics game, students will be able to demonstrate blending
skills and properly spell each word 80% of the time.

III. Primary mode of delivery key questions to consider and address:

How will your module be delivered? That is, how will your learners
actually interact with the content of your module? In most cases, this
will be some type of tech application/program (e.g., PPT, Prezi, Google
Versal, website, infographic, etc.) NOTE: Make sure whatever you
select, it has the ability to link to the Internet to access outside
materials, videos, etc.
Describe your primary mode of delivering the content of your module
to the learner. Give a rationale for your selection (i.e., explain why you
picked your mode of delivery over other potential ways of delivery):
My Interactive Module is PowerPoint that I created where learners
can view embedded videos and interact with the PowerPoint.

IV. Module outline key questions to consider and address:

Based on the objectives for this module, what will be the primary
content that will be included in the module? Moreover, what
instructional activities will be included (e.g., orientation, motivation,
information, application, evaluation)?
What is the sequence that the content and activities will be
experienced by the learner?
How/in what ways will the learner interact with the content (e.g.,
learner control of how the module progresses, application activities,
assessment responses)?
Where and how will the learning be assessed?

Create a basic outline of the IM. Include the main elements (the key
concepts to be learned, as well as the activities that will be
experienced). Within the outline, sequence the key concepts:
First, my students will be seated at their computers in a computer
lab. Then, the students will log into their computers and go online to
the PowerPoint that I created. They will have 20 minutes to interact
with the PowerPoint and view videos and receive explanations on how
to learn with phonics. The end of the PowerPoint will take the students
for a Google Forms, where the students will test their knowledge of
spelling with a quiz. The Google Forms will assess the students
progress and will record their answers for the instructor to view. The
end of the Google Forms will take the students to a website that
includes a phonics game. The students may play the game until the 20
minutes are up.
