INTRODUCTION:

The web has changed our world in so many ways, providing information
at our finger tips, giving faster communication, allowing easier exploration of our world and
increasing our productivity. In information technology, an application is a computer program
designed to help people perform an activity. An application thus differs from an operating
system, a utility, and a programming tool. Depending on the activity for which it was designed,
an application can manipulate text, numbers, graphics, or a combination of these elements. A
web application is an application utilizing web and browser technologies to accomplish one or
more tasks over a network, typically through a browser, or simply we can say that,

“Application software is a computer

software designed to help the user to
perform singular or multiple related
specific tasks.”

FileZilla:

FileZilla is an open-source cross-platform FTP client. This, together with its

high speed is the source of its popularity. FileZilla supports file transfer
protocol (FTP).This client offers two different ways to connect to an FTP,
depending on where the server is located either on LAN, or on the Internet.
The Site Manager options are helpful to store and configure some settings
regarding the target FTP. The Quick Connect function, as its name implies, is used to perform
establish connections on the fly. We can set the type of files that we want to see, and restrict
those that we do not need. Besides, we can decide which files will be transferred via filename
filters. The filters extend up to attribute level, allowing us to fully customize the visibility of
specific files and their transfer options. The program's Directory Comparison functionality
allows to synchronize local directory’s contents with any remote site. This feature helps to
compare the file sizes, the modification times, and to hide identical files. We can export our Site
Manager, entries, Settings, and Queues into an XML document.

Vast AVI converter:

Vast AVI Converter allows to convert between various video formats. The
application supports lots of formats, for example, AVI, VOB, MPEG-1,
MPEG-2, MPEG-4 WMV, DivX, MKV, VCD, DVD, HD, Flash video, etc.
Also the tool can extract audio from video; the supported audio formats are
MP3, M4A, WMA, WAV, AAC, OGG, and AC3. All we need to do is just
add video files, adjust options, set output format and directory folder, and
start conversion. Moreover, if we want to convert a file to play them further on our mobile,
iPhone, iPod, Zune, Nintendo WII, etc., the tool offers a simple list with various apps
enumerated. Just find the app in the list and select the format associated with it. Vast AVI
Converter also allows us to preview files before conversion, make a snapshot, and edit your
video. For example, we can crop, trim video, apply video effects, and add watermark. The
application is very easy to use due to its attractive intuitive interface.

JING:

Jing is a very handy tool to take snapshots and record videos from any portion
of screen. The program is so instinctive that even complete beginners can use
it effectively. The program features a totally unconventional that makes it
even more interesting. In fact, it installs a semitransparent "sun" in the
middle-top area of the desktop, which is designed to stay in always-on-top
mode. Whenever we want to make a capture, we just need to move our mouse towards that sun
and select "Capture" from among the options that emerge. This will enable us to select the area
of the screen that we want to capture and whether we want to make a snapshot or start a video
recording. If we select the "Capture image" option, the program allows us to apply a few basic
editing functions to the image, namely adding texts, arrows, and frames to it and highlighting any
sub-area. If on the other hand we select the "Capture video" option, it can disable our
microphone, stop or pause the recording at any moment or restart it. Whatever option we choose,
once the capturing is finished, the program gives the option to save it as an image/video file,
share it directly. In conclusion, Jing is a lightweight yet versatile tool that provides a very simple
and practical way to capture the screen action either as images or as videos. It is totally free of
charge, without requiring to save the file first and upload it manually.

TeamViewer:

TeamViewer is a desktop sharing application that allows easy remote

business collaboration over the network. Users can take control of the
remote computer, share their screen, and send files or restrict the
accessibility to it. The program offers several useful options such as:
maximize, disconnect, or pause the sharing pane, remote control, and other
great options available from the toolbar in the center of the window. With
TeamViewer the remote control of a computer is possible even if a firewall is present; all that is
required in running a small application on the remote computer that does not require installation.
TeamViewer uses an additional server component to remember which computers have been
connected, to reconnect faster. TeamViewer also has a Web-based version, for remote
connecting to home from public computer. This application is free but the complete business
version is licensed and starts at $749 dollars. Nevertheless the free version is sufficient for all

users. It's multi-platform, available for Mac, Linux and iPhone. The complete version allows
installation on server operating systems, commercial use, customer module does not require
installation and can be customized with corporate logo, and other options.

Yahoo! Messenger:

(YIM) is one of the oldest and most well-known instant messaging

clients in the world. Installing YIM on our computer can get almost
everything from an IM client: chat and chat rooms (large open chats
similar to IRC channels), PC-to-PC and PC-to-Phone call functions, wide
selection of available plug-ins, etc. We can login invisible to everyone or
we can set the option to be invisible to some specific person. Another useful feature is the
Yahoo! Messenger's SMS service. What everyone will definitely like about it is that it's free and
quite comfortable to use. However, if we want to do more than just SMSing to mobile numbers
then sign up for Yahoo! Phone Out and make PC-to-Phone calls for an average of 2 cents per
minute. Apart from the above-mentioned features, the latest version of the program, the Yahoo!
Messenger 11, has had some new ones added. Probably, the most important new feature is the
opportunity to link Yahoo! Messenger with your Windows Live, Facebook, Flickr, and Twitter
accounts. Once linked to Facebook, the YIM Client creates a separate contact list where we can
easily find our FB friends without mixing them up with other contacts. Facebook picture can be
used as our Yahoo! public photo, and Yahoo! Activities, in their turn, can be posted to the
Facebook wall. But the friends list and the profile photos are not the only things that connect
YIM and Facebook. Yahoo! Messenger Games plug-in, in the plug-in list, have also added
Zynga game.

However, the client is not without drawbacks. The one worth mentioning is that you get bombed
with loads of spam the very moment you enter a chat room. It looks like the chat rooms are not
looked after very well. If you don't want to get ten dubious links per minute, you'd better use the
conference feature, inviting your friends to chat at a particular time, thus avoiding annoying
spambots.
