This document lists 5 challenge problems related to dynamics and mechanical systems. Problem 1 asks to determine the range of water sprayed at an angle from a slope. Problem 2 asks to find the minimum and maximum distances a loading car can be placed from a conveyor belt to catch falling packages. Problem 3 asks to determine the tension in a cable accelerating a crate up an inclined plane. Problem 4 asks to find the force in a link connecting two blocks released on an inclined plane. Problem 5 asks to determine the mass needed for one block to move another a given distance up an inclined plane in a set time.

PROBLEM #1 : Water is sprayed at an angle of 90° from the
slope at 20 m/s. Determine the range R.
PROBLEM #2 : Small packages traveling on the conveyor belt fall off
into a 1-m-Iong loading car. If the conveyor is running at a constant speed of Vc = 2 m/s, determine the smallest and largest distance R at which the end A of the car may be placed from the conveyor so that the packages enter the car.
PROBLEM #3 : The motor winds in the cable with a constant
acceleration, such that the 20-kg crate moves a distance s = 6 m in 3 s, starting from rest. Determine the tension developed in the cable. The coefficient of kinetic friction between the crate and the plane is µk = 0.3.
PROBLEM #4 If blocks A and B of mass 10 kg and 6 kg, respectively,
are placed on the inclined plane and released, determine the force developed in the link. The coefficients of kinetic friction between the blocks and the inclined plane are µA = 0.1 and µB = 0.3. Neglect the mass of the link.
PROBLEM #5 : Determine the required mass of block A so that when
it is released from rest it moves the 5-kg block B a distance of 0.75 m up along the smooth inclined plane in t = 2 s. Neglect the mass of the pulleys and cords.
