governance and equal distribution of resources. Addressing the seminar
eminent economist Nadeem-ul-Haq said that local government was a key to
development. However, he said, act was one thing but practically forming a
strong and autonomous local government was still a big challenge for the
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government. Nadeem-ul-Haq said that he supported
LG’s financial autonomy, but they should not be allowed borrowing from
foreign or national funds. He also suggested that the maximum tenure for the
local government should be two years only. Shahid Zaman, the Additional
Secretary Punjab Local Government, and Mr. Bilal Rao, a member of the

• Theatre Performance
Date:13th March 2019
Topic: Men in Women’s World

Quaid-e-Azam Political Science Society contributed through a vibrant play on

women empowerment in Women’s Week on Wednesday 13 March 2019 in
Bukhari Auditorium. The aim of the play was to enlighten students’ minds
and to bring social injustice into limelight. The play depicted how women’s
rights are violated, how they suffer in every day’s life. What challenges they
had to face for the so-called crime of being women. The play showed gender
inequality and social dilemma. As the founder of nation said, “No nation can
reach the height of glory until and unless its women work side by side with
men”. To run a progressive society, it’s everyone’s responsibility to work in
collaboration with women. Women play a vital part to make society
prosperous, so their rights should not be neglected. It is rightly said if women
voices are dumped then the nation’s prosperity is dumped. Play was a major
share towards women rights and public awareness.

Spanning the period from the Inquisition through the French Revolution and
Napoleon, GOYA'S GHOSTS finds the Spanish Inquisitors upset about the
latest etchings by royal court portraitist Francisco Goya, which they believe
are heretical and represent everything that's wrong with Spain. Prodded on by
Brother Lorenzo, the Church acts through secretive, intrusive, and inhumane
tactics. As an observer, Goya is especially moved by the plight of his favorite
portrait subject Ines, who is unjustly tortured until she "confesses" to heresy
and is then imprisoned. Inés suffers decades of torment, alleviated only by
occasional visits from Lorenzo, which eventually produce a child he denies.
Outside, Goya continues to paint it as he sees it, from the beady eyes of Queen
Maria Luisa to the Inquisition's looming shadows, his resilience speaking to
the power of art and the truth of one man's vision. He leaves the Inquisitors to
join the Enlightenment in France, and eventually returns to Spain to take part
in sentencing his old boss in the Inquisition, Father Gregorio, to death.
