Abstract: Education is the process to nourish the personality and modify the behavior. Some scholars say that
education is life. It means that without education life is very tough and sometime becomes impossible. All
nations are agreed on the importance of education. But what type of education is required for the nation; it is
based on the vision of their well-known scholars. In this research the critical review of first international
conference 1947 was done. The conference was attended by the great scholars, educationist and Vice
Chancellors of that time. As Quaid-e-Azam is the founder of Pakistan, so on that important event Quaid sends
an important message to the nation that what will be the future structure of education. He said that education
should be at right time and right type. This paper focused on highlighted important aspects and suggestions for
the nation guidance and progress by education. Recommendations and suggestions were made in the light of the
analysis about how a balance can be achieved among the different dimensions of personality especially in the
light of the Quaid-e-Azam vision with the present available infra-structure and resources.

Introduction Quaid not only gave stress on education but also

Quaid-e-Azam (Quaid) was very clear from the
start about the education system of Pakistan as he
studied himself in reputed institutions of that time.
Quaid lead the nation in each and every field. On
creation of Pakistan, Quaid says, “Pakistan is your
proud specially those who are involved in study and
in the trial period. You the youth are the leader and
you have to guide the nation in near future, for that
you have to equip yourself with education, training
and discipline which will help you to perform the job
and task efficiently. You have to be aware about your
responsibilities and you have to do it [1]”.
Quaid gave stress on education. On another
occasion, he said that you have to give full
concentration on education and knowledge. It is your
key responsibility. You have to be aware about the
political situation of the era. You must have to know
the international events and environment. Education
is very important for our country [2].
In connection to the previous Quaid-e-Azam
guide and he advised the students in Dacca on 21st
March 1948 by saying, “I look that you will be the
builder of Pakistan: never be exploited and neither be
misled. Your key occupation has to be fair with the
nation. Fair with yourself and be fair with the state.
You have to study with devotion and play full
attention towards it [3].

replying to the student’s speech and giving guidance
on 12th April, 1948 at Islamia College Peshawar. He
said you must have to distinguish in love for your
province and love and duty for your country. Being a
citizen of the country, our duty becomes broader as
compare to provincialism. We must think first about
the state for common goods as compared to
provincial or individual interest. State as first as
compare to our province, our town and our district,
these come next after the state. This is the start of
building a country, nation which has to play a very
key and important role especially in Islamic world
and also in the rest [4].
Regarding education and the applicability of the
Islamic principles, Quaid addressed Karachi bar
council on 25thJanuary, 1948. He said that the
principles of Islam are applicable to every part of life
as these were 1400 years earlier. Islam guides us the
democracy. Islam told us about justice, equity and
fair play. He emphasized that future constitution of
the country (Pakistan) should be made on these
principles. He further told that the prophet was a
great teacher. He was a man of justice and law. The
prophet gives guidance very clearly about the law
and justice. The prophet was a great sovereign and
statesman who ruled [5].
Quaid take nation in confidence, it is the belief of
the Quaid that the true salvation lays in the golden

and outstanding rules given to us by the lawgiver the
great prophet. Our almighty always gives guidance
that how to make decisions. These will be based on
discussion and consultation [6].
About minorities, Quaid said in the address of the
assembly, “no one can bind you. You are free. You
are free to go to your temples, mosque or any place
of your worship. Your religion or caste may be
different from each other but you are the nation of
the same country, this will strengthen the business of
the country/state. All the people belong to any
religion or caste are the citizens of one state and
these are the equal citizens of the country. In political
sense, they are equal as they are different in their
religion but that is their personal faith [7].
Quaid gave a clear and right vision to the nation
in all field of life regarding education as it is the
important pillar for development of every nation.
After the creation of Pakistan, all leaders think that
there must be a well define direction for education.
Due to its key importance, the first education
conference was announced. It was decided to
organize the conference in Karachi. The conference
was held from 27th November to 1st December
1947. The key role was played by the Federal
Minister of education Fazal-u-Rahman. Educationists
and experts were invited to attend the conference.
Vice Chancellors of the universities of Punjab,
Dhaka and Sindh University join the conference.
Approximately 57 Government officials joined the
conference; due to illness Quaid was unable to attend
the conference but hegave a message to the
conference.
Result and Discussion
Quaid welcome all participants of the conference.
He said, “I am happy that first educational
conference is going to held in Karachi. Quaid clearly
said that education will be according to the cultural
norms and Islamic values and will be of the right
time and right type.
Quaid gave the future directions that are extracted
from above paragraphs
1. Right type of education(Islam will be the
base)
2. Education of right time
3. Advancement in Science and Technology
4. Research

These are the key areas where developments are
always required. Right type of education means that
how many personnel are required in the required
fields. Quaid says that you have to extend your
industries, business and agriculture. While making
developments in all such areas, one must consider
Medina model of developments. Quran and Sunnah
will be the basis for education. Further Quaid
stressed on education of right time mean that the
nation has to avail the education which is required.
He also stressed on advancements in science and
technology. These are the fields which help the
nation to raise their standard of life. The nation must
have to raise their GDP with the help of science and
technology. He also gave stress on research because
he was well aware of that. Even research is always in
progress in the holy Quran by making and writing
different “Interpretations” of Quran by the scholars.
That was the reason Quaid makes Islam is the base
for it. In short, Quaid addressed all the important
areas by which it becomes possible to make Pakistan
a happy and developed country.
Fazal Rahman extended the vision and suggested
more areas i.e.
1. 1 Spiritual
2. Social
3. Vocational
The conference made an Agenda in which they
emphasized on:
1. Science and Research
2. Scholarships
3. Basis of education
4. Religious and cultural education
5. Cultural links with other nations [8]
From the agenda, it is clear that they set a
direction for the future of education in Pakistan.
They gave priority to all the important areas. These
are the main areas for the nation development and
advancement. These are the basis of education also
that it is the responsibility of education to transfer the
religious and cultural values from generation to
generation. Shortly, it can infer that by adopting
these values, even the nation of Pakistan move
forward in the right direction. Presently not only
science and research is required but even to raise the
GDP advancement and improvements are required in
industry and agriculture.

Conclusion
The research analyzes that Quaid-e-Azam
Muhammad Ali Jinnah was a true leader of the
Muslims of subcontinent. Quaid gave guidance and
direction to the nation of all time. Quaid devoted his
life for the creation of the country. Quaid not only
solved the problem of the subcontinent with political
and peaceful vision but when Pakistan came into
being he arranged an education conference soon in
Nov 19947 to mark the clear and right direction for
the nation.

Future Work
In future the research may be conducted by analyzing
more literature or even consulting the educationists.
