Objectives:

The mini project is designed to help students develop practical ability and working knowledge of
practical tools/techniques to solve real life problems related to the industry, academic institutions
and research in the field of computer science or information technology. Each student needs to
take up this mini project as an individual. Projects could be based on Application Development
Technologies learnt in previous and or present semesters. As part of the mini project each student
will have to prepare proper documentation consisting of Software Requirements Specification
(SRS), Modeling Techniques, Development Strategies and Implementation Strategies.

2.Hardware Requirements:

• Pentium – IV processor or above

• 1GB RAM

• 40GB Hard Disk

• CD ROM : 52X speed

• Sound Card: 16 or 32 bits

• Graphics card

• Any other required Interfaces

3.Software Requirements:

RDBMS / Back end Tools:

MySQL, Oracle

Languages:

Java

Internet Technologies:

TCP/IP, FTP, Telnet, SMTP, Java, RMI, CORBA, Swing, JSP, Servlets.

Operating Systems:

Windows 2000 / ME / NT / XP / Vista, UNIX, Linux

4.Broad Areas of Applications:

• Database Management Systems

• Computer Communication and Networking

• Algorithms

• Operating Systems

• Software Engineering

• Data structures

5.Mini Project Guidelines:

• Projects must be done individually.

• The completed project report is to be submitted to University by uploading it on the EduNxt for
IA and UE evaluation within the prescribed time. This will be the only one document to be
submitted to the University for Evaluation.

Mini Project Development

During the course of Project development student must follow all the necessary steps.

Phase 1: Identification Phase

In this Phase student should identify the guide who has Post Graduate in IT with specialization in
appropriate area with minimum of 3 years of Industry/Teaching experience.

With the consultation of the guide one can choose the tools/Technology required for conducting
the Project and the hardware and software requirement for the Project.

Synopsis of Mini Project: Synopsis of project must contain following information:

1.Title of the project

2.Objective

3.Resource required

4.Problem statement

Phase 2: Development phase

This phase may involve actual Design and Implementation of the identified project.

Phase 3: Project Report: Project Report must contain following information:

1.The length of the report may be about 20 to 30 pages, with 1.5 line spacing, 1.25 inches margin
on either side, printed on A4 size papers. Ten percent variation on either side is permissible.

2.Contents of Project report are:

A.Title Page

B.Abstract

C.Contents

D.Introduction

E.Objectives

F.Design and Implementation

G.Conclusion

H.Bibliography
