GUIDELINES

BIG BOOK MAKING CONTEST


1. The competition is open to all classes both the Junior and Senior High in
Rafael B. Lacson Memorial High School
2. Stories and illustrations must be anchored to the suggested pool of
selections from the respective year level.
3. Entries must be written in English.
4. The text should be appropriate to the reading and vocabulary level of the
learners.
5. The story should showcase experiences, culture, and context that stimulate
critical thinking and promote moral values.
6. Each entry is encouraged to be interactive in nature. (e.g. pop ups, quests,
etc)
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
1. Size: 17’x11’ portrait
2. No. of Pages: 10-20 pages
3. Mixed Medium:
a. Base: Illustration Board, Card board, Cartolina, Special Papers etc.
(Can withstand wear and tear and durable)
b. Illustrations: Must be hand drawn and not electronically printed.
c. Text: Handwritten or Word Processed; No Font Style and Size
specifications
4. There should be a 25:75 percent ratio for Text and Illustrations.
5. NO required gutter and margins.
6. The Big Book must have the following parts:
a. Book Cover
i. Title
ii. Original Author
iii. Editor/s
iv. Illustrator
b. Pagination
7. All entries should be cost effective.

CRITERIA
Cover Page, Paging, Layout and Binding – 25%
Presentation and Organization – 30%
Illustrations – 30%
Over-all Aesthetic Impact – 15%
Total: 100%
