Hitler’s Rise to Power

(By: Atharva Satpute Grade 9)

The main reason why Hitler rose to power so quickly was because of his
strong, but violent speeches that grabbed people’s attention and the many
acts of violence that he carried out, such as the Munich Putsch. This
statement can be used to explain the reason why Hitler became so popular
and trusted within the German people.

In the 1920s, Germany faced extreme poverty. The reason why the country
was very poor and desperate for jobs was because of the Treaty of
Versailles. Due to the people being poor, angry and desperate, the Treaty
of Versailles contributed to the rise of radical political parties because of the
harsh conditions that the Treaty gave. This pushed the regular people of
Germany to rebel. Because of this situation, Hitler became very
opportunistic. He took advantage of the situation by giving the Germans
false hope.
Hitler was a very good orator and he displayed himself as a charismatic
leader within the German people. This gave him a huge advantage in
grabbing people’s attention, which was quite easy to do if he gave them
false hope in desperate times. Hitler would use lots of hand movements
and would usually shout very loudly, which made people who were passing
by interested in what he was going to say. He would usually give speeches
in beer halls and at first, people weren’t interested, but as he started giving
the Germans false hope of living a better life and potentially reversing the
effects of the Treaty of Versailles, the crowd became very interested and
blindly followed Hitler, making him very popular.
As more and more people blindly followed Hitler, he became widely popular
and admired. The reason why people blindly followed Hitler was because in
their point of view, Hitler was the only hope that they had for a safer, better
quality life. As Hitler’s popularity grew, he caught the attention of some
high-level people, who trained Hitler to become a politician. He then later
became the Chancellor of Germany and got his way.
In addition, Hitler was a very strategic man, who had the ability to stay
determined and bring in lots of attention. His strong, but violent speeches
played a pivotal role in his rise to power and his success, because of his
eye-catching gestures. His role in the world’s history and the horror he
caused will forever be remembered. These are the reasons why Hitler’s
speeches helped him rise to power.
