Congratulations! I am glad to inform you that you have been PROVISIONALLY selected for Ph.D. Programme in the
Electrical Engineering Department/Centre/School/ID group of the Institute.

To confirm your admission, remit the following fees by 03rd June, 2019 through SBI Internet Banking, Canara
Internet Banking or PAYU payment gateway (includes credit card, debit card and Internet banking of all
major banks).

Fees for all categories :

(A) For GN/GN(EWS)/OBC-NC category.

(i)For Non-Sponsored categories: :(i.e. TA, RA, TAP, PA, & Govt./Semi Govt. Fellowships Awardees
(QIP/UGC/CSIR/DAE/DST/NBHM etc.)

For GN/OBC-NC category

With Hostel Accommodation = Rs. 30,350/-

Without Hostel Accommodation = Rs. 19,800/-

For payment of fees by SBI Internet Banking/Canara Internet Banking/PAYU payment gateway (includes
credit card, debit card and Internet banking of all major banks), you need to login the Ph.D. Admission
webpage "http://www.iitb.ac.in/newacadhome/phd.jsp" by using "Online application portal' and by using
your email ID and Password, select the dept/centre/school/ ID group in which you have been offered the
admission and pay the fees ONLINE.

It may please be noted that if you fail, to remit the fees by 03rd June, 2019 (12:00 midnight) through
SBI Banking/Canara Net Banking/Online Payment System, your offer letter stands cancelled
AUTOMATICALLY and NO CLAIM against this offer will be entertained thereafter.

If you have opted for Hostel Accommodation then you are required to submit the Mess Advance of Rs.
27,000/- by ONLINE payment/Net Banking as per the link provided in the online admission portal. The
candidate shall directly contact the Deputy Registrar, Hostel Coordinating Unit(HCU), Ground Floor, Main
Building, IIT Bombay on 022-25768900/8901 or email at arhcu@iitb.ac.in / hcu.office@iitb.ac.in, for all hostel
related queries. Please note that the Institute provides accommodation on campus strictly for the stipulated
duration of Programme under which one is admitted. Accommodation is provided to "Non-Sponsored
categories (TA/TAP/RA/PA etc.)" and at times, due to shortage of rooms, they may be required to continue
with "sharing accommodation system".

The Registration & Orientation Programme is scheduled during July 22, 2019 to July 24, 2019. You are
requested to report at 9:30 a.m. on July 22, 2019.

All Teaching Assistants are required to attend a special orientation for Teaching Assistants immediately after
the general orientation which is MANDATORY.

The Instructions for the Autumn Semester 2019-20 begins from 29th July, 2019.

The verification of documents will be held in the month of July 2019 in the concerned academic units. You are
required to bring self attested copies of certificates of your educational qualification, Birth date, Migration
(optional), Caste certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NC if applicable)/EWS Certificate /Disability certificate, etc. along
with ORIGINALS for verification. In case if you have not yet completed your qualifying degree (result awaited)
then you need to bring a certificate from the Head/Principal of the Institute/College last attended that you will
clear your degree requirements on or before July 2019 (i.e. before the start of the semester). You must
submit your passing certificates and proof for having First class or 60% Marks (55% for SC/ST) in
qualifying degree examination by 30th September 2019, failing which, your admissions will stand
cancelled. (Please refer to Eligibility Criterion for admission in the Ph.D. Information Brochure 2019-
20.)

Sponsored/External/College Teacher candidates are required to bring the following additional certificates:

1.Sponsorship Certificate
2.Bio-data of External Guide (External candidate only)
3.Details about the Research facilities at the parent organization
4.Candidates working in Colleges/Universities have to produce a letter from the University stating that the
University has no objection to him/her to pursue studies and obtain Ph.D. degree from IIT Bombay.
5.Relieving Certificate from the present employer for doing course work at IIT Bombay.

If you are admitted under categories CSIR/UGC/NBHM/DBT then you MUST submit valid JRF Offer
Letter issued by CSIR/UGC/NBHM/DBT along with an undertaking that you will continue the Ph.D.
Programme under Self-financed category if the tenure of fellowship expires in between.

You are also requested to submit the "Vaccination Certificate/Vaccination Exemption Certificate" at the time of
registration. You may be allowed to register with the partial vaccination, if done, however you will be required
to complete the vaccination during the first semester. Registration for the second semester will be subject to
complete vaccination as required. Please refer to http://www.iitb.ac.in/newacadhome/phd.jsp for proforma
of "Vaccination Exemption Certificate".

Please note that:

Your admission is PROVISIONAL subject to fulfillment of all Academic and Non- academic requirements
specified in the Information Brochure and in this Admission offer letter.

The Institute reserves the right to withdraw the admission at any stage in case a candidate does not possess
the minimum qualification or First class or 60% marks (55% in case of SC/ST/PwD)* in qualifying degree or
do not fulfill any requirement given in brochure/admission offer or give any false information.

Candidates with First class or 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PwD)* in M.Sc./B.E./ B.Tech. or equivalent
provisionally selected for Ph.D. Programme under Teaching/Research Assistantship categories MUST
HAVE valid GATE score or CSIR/UGC/NBHM/DBT research fellowships, failing which, their admission
offer under Teaching/Research Assistantship of the Institute will be withdrawn forthwith.

As per MHRD directives, candidates selected under TA/RA categories cannot accept or hold any appointment
paid or otherwise or to receive any emoluments, salary, stipend from any source during the tenure of
TA/RA/TAP ship. Hence, candidates selected for TA/RA/TAP and having employment with or without
pay with any organisation/ Institution/ Establishment/Project etc. must leave the job and submit
relieving certificate before joining the Ph.D. programme.

Candidates joining programme under SW/CT/EX categories must submit requisite certificate (in the format
given in the Information Brochure) from their employers before joining the Ph.D programme, failing
which, their admissions will stand cancelled.

If you want to cancel/withdraw your admission after paying the requisite fees then you MUST communicate
the same by email to phd_unit5@iitb.ac.in, with subject "Cancellation of Ph.D. admission (2019-20) (I
Offer)" by specifying the department and specialization.

Please note that such request will be entertained, ONLY IF, the request is made through the email ID given in
the Application form.

In such cases, the fees will be refunded after deducting Rs. 1000/- from the total fees as processing fees,
only if the next candidate in the waiting list pays the fees and confirms the admission for the seat VACATED
by you. In other cases, only refundable deposits (Rs. 2000/- or Rs. 3000/- + hostel fees) as applicable will be
refunded. The refund will be send to the respective candidate's Bank account (through which they have
debited/paid the admission fees) within 8-10 weeks from the receipt of such email/request.

To utilize and maintain any motorized vehicle on the campus is strictly prohibited, excepting medical cases as
required.
