ABS-CBN going to shut down. For Raymund Villanueva the National Union of

the Philippines (NUJP) deputy secretary-general, a denial of the network’s franchise

could also jeopardize ABS-CBN’s public service programs. “we are calling on our

lawmakers to grant ABS-CBN a fresh franchise because many Filipino rely on the

network for news, entertainment, and public service,” he said

Many of the workers that work for ABS-CBN are in threats of losing their jobs, if this will

happen it will affect the economy of the Philippines and the democracy of the

Philippines because of this ABS-CBN has received a lot of support from ordinary

citizens, celebrities and senators.

The President of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte repeatedly said he would block the

network franchise renewal after the company allegedly refused to a political

advertisement in the 2016 presidential campaign.
