Novice Writer Output no. 1 – Narrate and Reflect

If I were in a position in a Government, I would allow the granting of franchise of the ABS-CBN. And I would
grant it not because of the famous artists, actresses and actors. I would allow the franchise because there are a lot of
people who works in the ABS-CBN company— the editors, the janitors/janitress and more. In this pandemic a lot of
people lost their job and even more people lost their job when the leaders didn’t say yes to the franchise of ABS-CBN.
And so, allowing the franchise would be a good decision to lowkey help the workers of the said channel.

Our country faces another contentious issue in which even our families will be divided. That’s because on many
of these issues there is no absolute right on one side alone... that’s why they’re contentious. The challenge to us is as
much as we try to resolve and debate on the issue, contentious as it is, we should remain within the bounds of civility,
albeit having totally different opinions. Let’s avoid belittling others nor harboring hatred feelings as we exchange our
views and opinions. I don’t mind differences of opinion but I do mind hate.  My heart bleeds to see my beloved country
so divided.

When we find ourselves being too biased or too prejudiced, stop awhile...learn to be fair. Listen to all sides,
there are three sides to every issue, the PROS – those who are for the renewal of the ABS-CBN franchise, the CONS –
those who are against the renewal of the franchise, and the TRUTH – which is what will come out only after the
congressional hearing on the network’s franchise renewal.

I am also a fan of watching some of the dramas and tv shows on ABS-CBN, they helped a lot of people for the
past few years like ABS-CBN LINGKOD KAPAMILYA FOUNDATION, INC. it is a committed advocate for public service in
strategic sectors of Philippine society. It aims to awaken hope in the Filipino through implementing projects via
multisectoral partnerships in the spirit of bayanihan. These are in child care and protection, education, environment,
disaster management and community development. It is the public service arm of ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation,
one of Asia’s biggest media conglomerates. It draws on this relationship to tap into the creativity and reach of media for
its various programs. It has three major programs namely: BANTAY KALIKASAN, it has initiated different projects such as
watershed rehabilitation and management, recovery and recycling of Used Lead Acid Batteries and used oil, advocacy
building through Information and Education Campaigns and community empowerment. The second major program is
SAGIP KAPAMILYA, providing a quick response and emergency humanitarian aid to families affected by calamities . They
provide food and non-food relief to affected communities of disasters, as well as engage in rehabilitation and disaster
risk reduction projects. The third major program is BANTAY BATA 163, Through the years, its services have evolved to
include helping indigent children through medical assistance and scholarships. It has broadened its scope to include the
community to help advance its advocacies, empowering the family through education and information campaigns.
Bantay Bata 163 has entered the online arena to aid in stopping online child abuse and exploitation.

So yes, I will whole heartedly allow the granting of the franchise to ABS-CBN to operate again. We are facing
different problems nowadays including the pandemic and different disasters and ABS CBN can help us all, there are
many places that doesn't have a good quality signal and only ABS CBN can reach them, ABS CBN news gives us correct
news and also about what’s happening on our country. It gives us signals if there are Typhoons, it helps people who are
suffering hunger or loss of home. ABS CBN also helps us with their entertaining shows that makes us laugh and be happy
for awhile. So why can't we allow ABS CBN to shine again? Today in this battle we are all facing it is better to give ABS
CBN a chance to help us all again.

A nation that is transformed and built on love, where Filipinos are safe, empowered and have the capacity to serve others
and that is ABS-CBN

“The effect of Corona Virus to Us”

The effect of the virus hit the economy of Our Country, while COVID-19 infection rates remain relatively low in many of
the areas where we work, here’s what else is going on: Violence has erupted around the world in enforcing new guidelines
set up to protect people from the virus. Beatings are happening in the markets, robberies and looting are a constant threat.
Because of road closures, strict curfews, and the danger of violence when venturing out, needed medicines aren’t being
distributed. Livelihoods of the poor living hand to mouth have been destroyed. People are no longer allowed to buy and
sell, so many are going hungry. Food is the number one need, and it is scarce. Locusts and mud slides in East Africa are
taking even more lives. Hope can be a powerful force. Maybe there’s no actual magic in it, but when you know what you
hope for most and hold it like a light within you, you can make things happen, almost like magic. Stay safe everyone.
