The STA Diploma Part 2 Exam


Instructions for sitting the exam at home
Set up: start immediately!
▪ Sign the exam declaration
▪ Follow the checklist
▪ Install and check your technology
- Personal computer with webcam
- Access to internet for Zoom
- Access to Acrobat Reader, Microsoft PowerPoint and Word.

Prepare your exam workspace
▪ Quiet room with minimal through-traffic from other people
▪ Only instructor-permitted materials on work surface
▪ All other electronics other than personal computer turned off
▪ Only one monitor/screen allowed (no multiple monitors)
▪ Calculator allowed as long as it does not have a transferrable
memory i.e. is not a mini computer
▪ Ensure that you have photo ID to hand to show to the proctor
at check-in

Prior to Check-in

▪ You will have been sent an email containing an exam paper (encrypted
Acrobat .pdf file), exam charts (encrypted personalised PowerPoint .pptx
file) and an answer paper (personalised Word .docx file). Ensure that the
personalised files identify you.
▪ Save these files onto your desktop where you can easily find them.
▪ Your invigilator will be giving you the password to allow you to open the
encrypted files once the exam begins.
▪ You will be writing your answers into the Word and PowerPoint files and
then emailing them to the email address provided by the invigilator.
▪ In order to avoid potentially losing information we suggest that you set
your programmes to autosave your work at suitably short intervals. Ensure
that you have saved the files before emailing them.

Check-in: Preparing for the exam
▪ Log in to Zoom meeting using the meeting ID, identification as
provided and password for both phone and computer. Check
your audio & video.
▪ You will be placed in a waiting room until you are individually
checked-in. Please be patient.
▪ The proctor will conduct a check-in with you, this will include:
- Using your phone to scan your exam workspace
- Helping you position yourself in ‘Exam Ready’ position
- Checking your photo ID

of the phone camera at all

Exam Period: Proctor will be monitoring and
recording via Zoom
▪ Reduce the Zoom window to see just the proctor and chat
box.
▪ Have Acrobat Exam Paper and PowerPoint open ready to
enter exam password. Word should also be open.
▪ Stay in the Exam Ready position. No other activity on your
computer and phone is allowed.
▪ When the exam is ready to start, the proctor will give you the
password for the exam and charts. The clock will start ticking
at that point.

At the end of the exam

▪ When you have finished the exam, or when instructed by the


invigilator, stop writing and save your work.
▪ E-Mail the completed answer paper (personalised Word file)
and annotated charts (personalised PowerPoint file) to the
email address provided by the invigilator.
▪ When the invigilator has confirmed to YOU PERSONALLY
that your email has been received and is useable then you
may log off from the Zoom session. Please do not do so
before you are instructed to do so.

What happens if I have a question?

▪ To minimise disruptions, the proctor will be mostly on “mute.”


▪ Although your audio will be on, please use the chat facility to
communicate with the proctor.
▪ The proctor will address questions in your chat. These should
relate to technical issues only.
